intrizic
I bet dwarves would have some pretty epic metal bands I'm imagining some line ending with '.....and I break you on my anvil, death from the forge !!!!'
nathonicus
"Death from the Forge" is an awesome name for an album. Joey, a few more listens to Z2 and I'm really digging it. The album really embraces Devin's "Wall of Sound" style, so it takes a couple listens to be able to really understand what's going on. Wiccus
Yeah I have listened through both albums about 15 times now. Love them both and I pick up on more and more stuff all the time. So far my favorite songs are Silent Militia, Before We Die and March of the Poozers.
Wiccus
And Scipiano in answer to your question I am not entirely sure but definitely someone in the industrial metal genre. Samael could be what you are looking for though they are often less grindy sounding than that. They have the industrial feel while maintaining something of the rawness that black metal has. That is what the guitar in that video made me think of. Certainly industrial but with a raw sound. Check out their album "Above" it's the only thing I can really think of right now that might match it. Maybe Scorngrain though. Probably my favorite industrial metal band. Though The Kovenant is amazing too.
Yarbicus
Been feeling nostalgic lately. One of Rob Halford's bands after he left Judas Priest:
Ser Warwick
My thanks Wiccus and Nathonicus, that industrial metal is good fare. Things shall get loud now. In exchange I bring the death humppa of finntroll.
Wiccus
Oh I am well aware of Finntroll. They have been one of my favorite bands since I was but wee. Love the video for that song. This is the song I have recently been in love with. You will catch a wicked case of eternaboner if you listen to this song, just fair warning. And a couple other bands I have been listening to a lot lately. Love love love the new Dark Fortress
Munkie
Joey, I listened and got the opposite of eternaboner. Yelly and singy vocals are both very generic. Just fast drums and... Yep, this is technically a metal band. You never lead me astray, what gives?
Yarbicus
Been rediscovering my metal roots lately.
nathonicus
For Joey.... Too soon?
Wiccus
That song is pretty much my relationship with every car. It should be fixed (again) by tomorrow. Kevin, I don't know what to tell you. I love that song a lot and that band is competing for my top favorites of all time. Ne Obliviscaris is anything but generic. They have lots of subtlety and complexity. And I "lead you astray" pretty regularly. You hate a good many of the bands that I love. I usually recommend bands to you in person that I think you would like as I didn't even think you listened to anything on this thread. I know you are mostly into power and stoner metal so Ne Obliviscaris is not a band I would recommend to you personally. Just different taste I guess since I absolutely adore that band. nathonicus
Joey and I ran into the drummer for this band at the Devin Townsend show: They seem pretty cool.
Sherbert
holy [big bad swear word], the front man of King of Asgard grew a gnarly beard.

JMGraham
The singer got the message about what to do when you start to go bald. You shave your head and grow a massive beard. The other guitar player should take note.

nathonicus
I've been digging stoner metal lately, which is weird, because usually I've been into the faster death/thrash stuff that people have been posting. It's good though, cuz now I can go back through this thread and find even more goodness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYk-bN1XgoY
