  1. I are signed up, paid, and ready to go for Seat 3. Now to decide on one of 2 lists and submit the list. Also, I need to get info about the Enfilade Convention painting competition.
  2. When deploying the gun & sending trucks to the rear, is the gun stuck in its dragged position or can you face it in a chosen direction? Also, how does bombardment work on the gun & truck when it is limbered?
  3. Played a game with Barca last night. My initial lists seems pretty promising, though the Messerschmitt Bf109 feels a little weak. It can do both Bombs and Cannon but neither is as good as the Stuka or HS129. Will have to play more games to see if this list is weak towards armor or infantry before committing towards a Particular Stuka. Also, this came up during our game and Barca was struggling a little on how to handle Towing guns with trucks. Do you pull them around similar to hitching horses to & caissons to cannons in Napoleonics & Civil War, or do you just put down the truck & pick up the guns like when infantry loads up in halftrack. Then how to deploy the guns & send trucks to rear. If anybody has experience.
  4. Yep, that was meant for the thursday outings.
  5. From now till Enfilade, which is end of May, I plan on bringing 1700 pt mid-war Germans to try out different lists in preparation for the Enfilade tournament. If anybody else is going & needs practice or just likes to play Mid-War, bring an army.
  6. so, does this mean that we get special characters of Sledge, Basilone, Leckie, & Snafu?
  7. I - R - 2 available that weekend. Also, to add to the "Armies available for newcomers to try, I could use my German FJ thus freeing up a French Char Bis & Hotchkiss company with arty, inf, & ATgun support.
  8. I was just doing some math and wondering, Using micro-armor and 1/285th scale stuff to go with, can you play FOW on a miniature table? if so, how do you convert the scale measurement? Answer is YES and Conversion is easier than you think. In the FOW rules, where-ever you have inches, read it as centimeters. Technically its a little off but its small enough that your not going to notice it. 12" converted down would be 4.59" and 12 centimenter is closer to 4.75" (close enough). Standard game table that is 48" x 72" (or 4'x6') would be 48cm x 72cm. Standard tank movement would be 12cm, Standard infantry movement would be 6cm. Most tank main gun ranges would be 32cm. That would be a 19" x 28-1/2" gaming table. That could be the outside of a briefcase unfolded and laid out flat and there is the table, inside the briefcase could be smaller containers holding terrain and game pieces. What an interesting concept! Anybody in for this? I'm not saying this would be easy gaming, especially without tweezers, but if you have alot of that micro-armor just sitting around, it can be put to use as "Travel - Flames of War".
  9. Battle 4 Attacker: SteveZ, Defender: RyanM Warriors: none Mission: No Retreat, Winner: US, Points: 4-3, Sector taken?: NO Firestorm Casualties: German 352nd Inf Div, US 29th Inf. Div
  10. I, too, plan on being there today. I have the 69th Merica Militia Division "Yokuls" that used to be campin at Ft. Burns and has now skeedattled to the nazzi front.
  11. I looks like a re-package of Tank Aces from BGG (Blood Guts & Glory).
  12. Battle Arrow #3, Played on 12-10. Winner Germans Score 6-1 Sector taken? no Casualties 3rd armored div tank and 4th inf div rifle
  13. I will be there tonight (Thursday Dec 17). I have with me US stuff to play out most any of the scenarios involving US.
  14. If your looking for Rommel, you can find him in the Early War book "Blitzkrieg" or the Mid War book "Africa".
  15. The higher points allowed for more heavy tank meta games. I think this lower points is to try more emphasis on infantry, armored inf, light tanks, calvary etc.
  16. Thanks everybody I played at the tournament. Was very frustrating for my tank company to deal with nothing but infantry companies, and the missions didn't help. But, everybody was nice and I enjoyed the games albeit a ripping headache by the middle of the second game and lasting till I got home. I have gotten tired of not being able to beat infantry companies with my US tanks and this tournament has showed me a few things. From now on, I am concentrating my US armor into pure ANTI-Infantry. I have proven that I can tear up Panzers, Panthers, and Tigers, so, I am going to convert all my tank killing stuff (m4 76mm and tank destroyers) into infantry killing stuff like jumbos, standard shermans with improvised armor, stuarts with improvised armor, assault gun shermans instead of mortars (anything with breakthrough gun), I really want to start slaying those gravel munching little bastards.
  17. As for universally used tanks in this Flames of War game rules, All the 75mm gun turret Shermans (british sherman I,II,III,V, US shermans m4,m4a1,m4a3,m4a3(late), and the russian lend lease 75mm) look pretty similar and can be universally used. All the turrets are the smaller squatter, rounder looking ones. All the 76mm gun turret Shermans (US m4a1(76), m4a3(76), and the russian 85mm) can be universal, though the Russian 85mm barrel is slightly bigger that the 76mm, they are still about the obvious longer length and the turrets are the same. All the turrets are the longer more oval looking ones. You can mix & match the different 75mm or the different 76/85mm but its harder to proxy the 75mm as 76/85mm & vice-versa. Then you have the specific shermans. that don't work so well in the univeral tank concept Firefly VC - British only Easy Eight - US only Jumbo - US only
  18. I have 1945 US tank list for tomorrow

None WHAT: mission played Dust Up WHERE: Sector the attacker started in. A3 Sector that was the target of the attack. A8 terrain type. Open farm fields OUTCOME: Winner had to stop due to time, Germans had lost 5 platoons, US lost 0 platoons, Germans held 1 objective, US held 1 objective. No other objectives were contested Victory Points
  20. I've been running US tank company for 8 years now and I have found 'BGG' to be the most fun, especially when using Abrams. 'BGG' does give you the JUMBO but not the 76mm JUMBO (that one comes in 'Remagen'), but it is still fun to bounce those insta-kill panther rounds off a sherman. 'Remagen' gives you the 76mm JUMBO and pershing tanks, along with Tank companies using the Chaffee. Glad to hear you bought the Hardback Rule Book. There is a benefit to buying that over the mini-rulebook. When the new Version 3 rules came out, those of us that bought the V2 Hardback were able to get a FREE V3 mini-rulebook. So, if they come out with a Version 4, BF will most likely do the same thing. Hold on to your Rulebook. For MW, there is only 1 book, 'Eastern Front' For EW, 'Barbarossa' is a really good book for both German and Russian. If you want to try out US Tank Company before getting too involved, I have a huge motorpool available and with the Overlord firestorm campaign running, that's all I bring to Thursday Night gaming at GG. Though I am still working some of those more exotic things like Calliopes. Stop on by, have a look, help me push tanks around.
  21. Old books are still valid for play. They just don't have the most current points costs. That means you pay on average 15-45 points more in a 1500 to 1750 list. The older books do have good reference material in them, Especially the old North Africa paper back. I'm still wanting to get a collection of the First edition books like Za Stalina, King and County, Stars and Stripes. Just for collection purposes.
  22. I am in favor of option #1: We are keeping good records on the campaign so it's not like we can't pick it up later. If someone still wants to do either of the other two, they can. I like using this campaign as a nice filler for when we don't have anything currently going on, ie, preparing for a tournament, playing mid war or early war cause someone would prefer to play that for a while. In the past, there has never been any guidance as to what to bring. Now, if I don't have anything in pre-arranged, I can always do the campaign stuff. I planned on playing these past couple of Thursdays but work had me going to the coast and then to seattle. I don't foresee anything coming up this thursday and I have all the practice I need for my tourny army so I am bringing stuff for campaign or tourney.
  23. Flex Schedule - Have 6 game sessions posted over the 2-day period, but there is a limited number of tables available. Players have to sign up for 3 game sessions out of the 6 available. At each session, pair up the teams according to their current record. This could allow players to try and schedule other types of games around this tournament. To help with getting 6 game sessions in, go with lower point limits. (1250-1500) Also, you attract a larger crown if you stick with Late War period, since that is where the starter sets are concentrated and most beginners start in LW due to game piece availability.
