I listened to the audiobook. It was really good, one of the best I've heard and while I'm looking forward to the movie I think it'd be smart to read/listen to the original version first.

I like it. The quality is high, the models are beautiful, the art is gorgeous, the game is expanding in interesting directions, the new codexes are quite well done, and armies are differentiable. I can't help but think we're living in a golden age of 40k; I'm glad I came back when I did ;-)

Hot damn, that's a really well styled army -- different units are distinct and really cool, but the army has a consistent 'look' overall. GW's really good at that.

Anyone interested in a game of 40k at 1850 points or so? I'll be there ~5:30 this week (what kind of a sicko schedules a meeting at the end of the day?)

Yeah, The Overlords are very good. I even enjoy the song parodies. Well, I did the first 20 times or so ;-)

Oh, they're not even in the same league as the ICs, but the lack of dick and fart jokes puts them miles ahead of the rest of the pack.

I've started in with Masters of the Forge. Not as well produced as the ICs, but seem to be thematically similar.

With a bit of conversion, it'll make one hell of an umbrella stand.

I broke the ankle trying to straighten it. I broke the toe because I'm a clumsy oaf. Both breaks pinned, the ankle needs some greenstuff reinforcement to help prevent re-injury.. even with that, I think it's going to be an ongoing problem. I may end up replacing the paperclip pin with a longer brass rod all the way down through the base.

Well, that could have gone better. Good thing I'm fairly decent at pinning.

I'm not a good painter, so this can't be considered a PROTIP but I think it holds up: I'd spend the time to get good with a decent airbrush. In fact, that's one of my summer projects.

With The Independent Characters podcast going away, I'm losing one of the two 40K podcasts I listen to (the other being The Overlords). I'm looking for something to fill the gap that'll be left when the ICs go dark -- any suggestions? Most other podcasts I've tried are either targeted at competitive players, of staffed by (trying to be polite here) people who's sense of humor seems... well, pretty juvenile. Or worse, juvenile and terrible production quality Hopefully there's something close to the ICs out there -- though they're a pretty tough act to follow.

Unfortunately I have to withdraw. One of the players in my RPG group is going to be deployed this summer, and we're in a race against the clock to finish the current chapter of Rise of the Runelords before he goes. I'll need this day if we're going to make it... Sorry.

Fine with it? I've made it a way of life :-D
