  1. @bro g I don't doubt for a second OFCC is an immense amount of work- I'm a member of a completely separate club who hosts an annual rally that brings people from all over the country- it's brutal - the amount of work we put into it. It feels thankless at times and often the members of my club are so tasked by it they don't even get to enjoy it. We do it for a number of reasons, but it's always hard on us. I guess, basically what I'm saying is- if we want AoS to have a big community event we need to establish a consensus on composition and errata and then get players onboard. Otherwise it's going to fall to a small single day event or some such.
  2. I hope it's orks- tho, anything other than khorne/stormcast will excite me. I feel like orks and ogres are due some love. That of course means nothing to gw. I mean, stormcast ARE a new faction to the line... So I'm sort of doubting another new faction will arrive.
  3. Sweet. I'll be there for this one. Also, Sylvos- I tried the Dreams of Rust match - it was fun. I like the across the board nerfs to armor and movement- but taking 3d6 mortal wounds on one unit and 2d6 on another basically lost me the game on turn 1. I'd scale those down a bit so the game isn't decided so quickly. I think I was hit for 22 mortal wounds in the first movement phase.
  4. In response to Bro G Maybe- But it doesn't seem too difficult to organize a structure to be adopted by events. If one were to say starting next organized GG league Scrollbuilder points values will be used in escalation IE game 1 1000 (or as close as a player can acheive) point matches, Game 2 1100 point matches, Game 3 1200 point matches, etc. Game scenarios will be released the week prior to the match to allow list building Erratta And Rules FAQ-Units may not make shooting attacks in the shooting round of combat while within melee range of an opponents melee attack- IE if an archer/cannoneer/etc. is face to face with an opponent or in direct threat of being harmed he's not going to draw his bow/gun/etc, aim and shoot Units charging into cover, halve their rolled charge distance before adding any possible special modifiers. This applies as long as any models from the unit were to end their charge in the cover. Summoning units... blah blah blah and so on... I mean, yeah. That was tough. And the best part about it is if someone breaks the system- because it is a community built rules structure- the community can just alter it. No one is left screwed out of using their beloved models because their rule book says they aren't worth using anymore. You just alter the points values you and your community assigned them.
  5. I, personally, enjoy AoS far more than 40k - in it's current form. My past few 40k games have just felt exhausting. Turn 4 and 4 hours in and I just don't feel like playing anymore- whether or not it garners a win. 40k is a rules heavy drag- and it took me trying something else to realize it. Am I done with 40k? No. I'll still play- but I'd rather play AoS. AoS has been nothing but enjoyable since I started to grasp how it actually plays. I honestly think it's a real shame that so many players just quit Fantasy, or barely tried AoS before deciding that they hated it. It's got far more depth of play than it appears, from just looking at the 4 pages of rules. Do I think it could be made into a competitive format OFCC event. Absolutely. -Organize a points format- I like the Scrollbuilder SDK one. It's quick to use, and lets players quickly write lists and balance them to one another. Ordo Comp, is too confusing, and though I want to support it- it makes the game feel like casual play; IE bring whatever you want, we don't need balance. Nurglings and Putrid Blightkings don't weigh the same in the game and competitive play demands they be assigned a points value. -I'd also say a small errata list would help the competitive scene. Slight tweaks in rules to increase competitive decision making. Things like charging through terrain, shooting while within melee distance. Playing with those really alter the way people will play the game. - and create a more austere decision making process. I can already hear the crowds whining "We shouldn't have to write the rules for competitive play!" "AoS just sucks!" Well, look at the ITC rules eratta in 40k. Also, don't for one second try to tell me that 40k is a balanced game. "oh you got a Morkanaut? HA don't ever expect to play it!" I guess that is the biggest challenge to AoS for OFCC. Getting people to play it! The friday nights at GG have had good turn out and everyone seems to have a lot of fun. My only complaint is that it's happens on a friday night and I often have other pressing things keeping me from attending. Well, it's fun. I've played it. Once you figure out what you are doing, and get some basics of balance it's a really entertaining hobby game.
  6. I've run Nurgles Deluge formation and found it to be quite useful. Dropping nurglings across the board can really disrupt an opponents march. I need more nurglings
  7. Holy crap. Some of these new models are awesome and some of their rules! Look at the Skullgrinder!
  8. I haven't played them in forever and I'd like some cash to throw at some new models. Asking 350 for the lot for Ordo - Most are painted pretty well- some really well, and if they aren't painted well, that's part of the hobby! Here is the list- Imotekh the Stormlord Trazyn the Infinite Anrakyr the Traveler Nemesor Zahndrekh (new in box) 4 Crypteks built (1painted, 1 unbuilt) 1 Lord 30 Warriors 10 Immortals 5 Deathmarks 2 Night Scythes 3 Tomb Blades 6 Canoptek Wraiths 2 Caoptek Spyders 1 Doomsday Ark 2 Annihilation Barges 5 Triarch Praetorians 12 Bases of Scrarabs 1 C'tan Shard of the Nightbringer 1 Destoyer Lord I also have a big old pile of bits, the data cards are somewhere around here too...
  9. Alright- I think I'm starting to get it- it's really not that difficult, I think my dyslexia was just bouncing the language around and making it seem far more complicated. So... The Glottkin, 6 points for being both a hero and monster (heavy warscroll) +2 for being able to cast 2 spells +6 because he has damage profile of 3/d3/d6 and he has 18 wounds (IE18/3=6) Meaning they count as a 14 point warscroll One 4 man unit of Ironguts 4 points for having a minimum unit size of 3 and each model having more than 2 wounds (normal warscroll) +0 points for adding fewer than 5 additional wounds in the form of 1 more model (minimum unit size 3) +5 points for having a damage profile of 3/d3/d6 and having a total of 16 wounds in the unit (16/3=5.33) 4 Ironguts cost 9 points.
  10. The ordo comp totally confuses the heck out of me. It says 'warscrolls' fall into 3 slots- light, medium, heavy, but then units are worth the points associated with their warscrolls? So if I bring 3 units of Ogre Bulls that counts as 1 warscroll or 1 unit, or 3 units and 1 warscroll!? Cause a warscroll is a descriptor of a unit? A "hero" is a 'light' warscroll but so is a unit of gnoblers in a pack of 10, but only if the hero doesn't have a horse?? And they are both 2 points? How is a unit of bestigors 5 points? If it's a medium warscroll I thought it was 4 points? Then the missions have maximum warscroll counts- but someone could potentially run a massive number of models all from the same warscroll? I'm just lost on the comp. I'm really not trolling- I just really really don't get it at all.
  11. I don't really care too much about the Stormcast, but AoS is rapidly becoming my favorite game.
  12. I've watched some battle reports with Nagash- he is a beast on his own, but like all things in AoS- timing and positioning play a huge part for him.
  13. If you use the sdk point value you can add individual models
  14. I think I'm going to start compiling a small list of 'house rules'
  15. Basically, with every game I've played - we have measured a one inch attack as base to base or within 1/2 of an inch. Two inch attacks can attack from the second row. When measuring from the model I've always measured from it's bulk. Ie it's torso, or major extremities- not its weapons, decorations, pointy bits or what have you. Also, for movement- I think everyone has basically just been measuring from the base. I'd actually say I'd think measuring distance should just be from base center. So moving a unit you just hold the measure over about it's center and move it so it's new location with its center being at the new location. This method essentially takes the round base vs square base issue out of the picture.
  16. Anything can go down fast in AoS. I got a first turn charge off on the glottkin with an ogre stonehorn, today. How do you think it went for the glottkin? Initiating combat is massive. It's also rather strategic. Also, the whole measure from the model thing is the farthest thing from a big deal in a game I've seen. It isn't a thing at all- stop talking about it and try it out. Oh and making a model bigger just makes it a bigger target- not at all better. Also, big models suck to transport.
  17. Tried the SDK scroll builder for a game today. Gotta say, it did a great job of balancing the game. I'm on board with its use.
  18. I'll put together around 1600 points with the scrollbuilder comp
  19. I could play at red castle - if you are still interested?
  20. This SDK builder is pretty good looking- We need to try it out. http://www.scrollbuilder.com/
