I don't think I like it. It completely rewards people with massive collections or older longstanding players and deters new players. Oh you play Space Marines, you are golden... You have tons of armies, awesome. You are new to the game and only have a collection that features only some formations - don't bother playing. I for one, only own admech, some knights and some inquisitors- I'll simply be destroyed by any and all Space marines with drop pods and obsec- while I'll have no way of even obtaining obsec for myself. The list I've been playing lately- which is silly and not very strong, but can still win- would be completely illegal in this format. Nope. As if the game weren't bad enough about what is viable to use and play a game with...

When I got into this hobby- the first Christmas that came to pass I received around 15 brushes- 2 of which were Windsors. Without knowing a thing about them I found them being the ones I ALWAYS grabbed. Good brushes make painting a lot more enjoyable.

In my experience the Vindicare is just a total waste of points. The Eversore is hilarious and incredible- or just a total waste. The Callidus is really difficult to play and usually just doesn't get anything done. And... The Culuxes just troll faces everyone. Runs around peeing on everyone's shoes and hanging everything up while they all desperately wish they could git him. I'm mostly thinking of them in coordination with a giant blob of guard and a fat pile of cannons.

Admech without allies are probably just as slow. The sicarians, which I'm quite fond of- do really haul- but they are T3 foot sloggers. I just can't bring myself to do the cheezeball Blood Angels ally group. My first army was BA and I think I might have PTSD from them. So... It sounds like I need MOAR grunts, Wyverns and Quad THUDD guns and to explore my ally selections. How about assassins? I'm guilty of fielding those overpriced point sinks a great deal.

I have a couple of inquisitors but I have zero interest in space marines- I just don't want em ????. So other than flyers Guard don't really have mobility options? Is the Taurox Prime any good? I guess having a 100+ bodies on the ground does afford pretty good board control.

I've started down the path of collecting and painting a new Guard army- However, one thing playing 40k has taught me is that despite how shiny some models may be many are simply not worth owning. So, my question is, what are some highlight units in the guard? What are the most tried and tested tactics? Best lists? I'm intending to build out a bit of a hoard of infantry, a couple of primaries psyches to throw around buffs, possibly CREED, void shield and a few jumbo cannon type things in the back field. I'm not terribly interested in too many tanks, but if it's necessary to round out the list I'm also not opposed. Chimera, or Taurox? Is Yarrik really all that? Gimme the scoop. I want all the opinions.

I worked on Friday, but played a scenario on Thursday- My Nurgle army vs Dwarves. It's was very close but I lost. Man those dwarves bring some MEAN cannons to the field. And here I thought the Glottkin were just kingly behemoths of brutality!??

Alas i picked up a catering shift this Friday night????

I purchased a 5 pack of da Vinci brushes for 35 bucks - so far I'm very very happy. They perform just as well as my old Windsors for quite a few dollars less

I recently used my Windsor Newton brushes to death. What are people's favorites of the more easily acquired brushes? Army painters? Citadels? As of yet I haven't found a local source for series 7 Windsors

I guess my nurgle army is a 6 warscroll list.

I just cranked my nurgle army through scrollbuilder and it's about 1880 points. I'd say 2k is a good sized army to produce a varied challenge and fun game.

I was joking. It kind of came off like you were saying we COULD NOT possibly demo the game to people because we weren't painted or fully built. It's true. I don't have the AoS starter box built, but I have a pretty darned good looking round based Nurgle army. I think it would attract people.
