  1. So is this list just completely filthy "Imperial Soup" or a fun way to represent an Space Marine Siege Company? You make the call! I don't like mixing Chapter Selections within one army, but there's no other way to get Sergeant Chronus in the list and the only model in the entire army that will be using the Chapter Tactic is the Techmarine on Bike. So I don't think there is too much cheese in this soup. Let me know what you think. ++ Battalion Detachment +5 CP (Codex: Adeptus Astartes Space Marines) [ 54 PL, 919 pts] ++ **Chapter Selection**: Imperial Fists + HQ + Primaris Captain w/Power Fist: Plasma Pistol, Power Fist, Trait: Storm of Fire, Relic: The Armour Indomitus [ 92 pts ] Primaris Lieutenants 1x Power Sword, 1x Master-Crafted Stalker Bolt Rifle [ 149 pts ] + Troops + Intercessor Squad: 5x Stalker Bolt Rifles, 1x Auxiliary Grenade Launcher; Sergeant w/ Chainsword [ 85 pts ] Intercessor Squad: 10x Bolt Rifles, 2x Auxiliary Grenade Launchers; Sergeant w/ Chainsword [ 170 pts ] Intercessor Squad: 10x Bolt Rifles, 2x Auxiliary Grenade Launchers; Sergeant w/ Power Fist [ 179 pts ] + Elites + Primaris Ancient Bolt Rifle [ 69 pts ] + Heavy Support + Hellblaster Squad: 5x Heavy Plasma Incinerators [ 175 pts ] ++ Spearhead Detachment +1 CP (Codex: Adeptus Astartes Space Marines) [56 PL, 980 pts] ++ **Chapter Selection**: Ultramarines + HQ + Sergeant Chronus in Predator: Hunter-Killer Missile, Pintle Storm Bolter, Twin Lascannon Turret, Lascannon Sponsons [ 218 pts ] Techmarine on Bike: Bolt Pistol, Power Axe, Servo-Arm, Twin Boltguns [ 77 pts ] + Heavy Support + Predator: Predator Autocannon Turret, Pintle Storm Bolter, Heavy Bolter Sponsons [ 152 pts ] Predator: Predator Autocannon Turret, Pintle Storm Bolter, Heavy Bolter Sponsons [ 152 pts ] Vindicator: Pintle Storm Bolter [ 127 pts ] Vindicator: Pintle Storm Bolter [ 127 pts ] Vindicator: Pintle Storm Bolter [ 127 pts ] ++ Fortification Network Detachment +0 CP (Codex: Adeptus Astartes Space Marines) [4 PL, 100pts] ++ Aegis Defense Line: Icarus Lascannon [ 100 pts ] ++ Total: [9 CP, 114 PL, 1999 pts] ++
  2. Elysian Drop Troopers, using only Forge World models? Or did you mean "nastiest" mechanically, rather than financially?
  3. Searched google for "40k rhino camouflage," was not disappointed with the results:
  4. The optic is a little far back for a long eye relief scope, but that looks an awful lot like a Steyr Scout. Which would be the perfect weapon for someone wandering the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
  5. Orks practice slavery in Gorkamorka, with the enslavement of the Diggas, up to and including slaver raids of Digga settlements and slave markets in the larger junktowns. Orks also treat gretchin and snotlings as slaves, but that’s literally a instinctive behavior programmed into them at a genetic level. As is the fact that the gretchin and snotlings put up with it and are instinctively obsequious to the larger greenskins... until there’s a critical mass of Grots in an environment, in which case they will start to manifest “sneaky” and “cunnin’” behavior that will form a rebellion within Greenskin society... This will get krump’d by the Orks, but it will weed out the weakest of them and inspire their leaders to get off their duff and start waging “proper” wars. Eventually, leading to a full Waaagh!
  6. Orks, gretchin, snotlings, et. al., have a biological imperative to follow the biggest and meanest among them. If the biggest and meanest Ork in the group says “Trust ‘em.” then the rest of the Greenskins will comply... or one of them will try to krump him. If the current boss wins, then he’s the biggest and meanest Ork in the group — and just proved it! — so the rest will listen to him. If the challenger wins, then he’s the biggest and meanest Ork in the group — and just proved it! — so the rest will listen to him. Ork Freebootas and Blood Axes aren’t uncommonly found as mercenaries in the employ of humans. It’s rare, but not unprecedented, to see Bad Moons doing the same. There has to be some level of trust for this to work, even if it probably only boils down to “This silly git is gonna pay me after my ladz krump dem guys. So I’ll do dat, den come back an’ krump him.”
  7. Thats why I’m shooting for a unit a month.
  8. Forge World’s Imperial Armour - Index: Forces of the Astra Militarum. There are three Imperial Guard units that use the Earthshaker gun: the Basilisk found in the codex, the Earthshaker Battery (above), and the Earthshaker Carriage Battery. The last two are both in Forge World’s Index. Only the Earthshaker Battery has the Immobile rule. Oddly, the Basilisk is the cheapest option in terms of points and money. Go dig.
  9. That’s why I long ago decided that if I wasn’t going to be a great painter — I’m a solid “good enough for gaming” level — then I would at least be an efficient painter. I try to play only with completely painted armies. An army of 200 dudes painted to a 6/10 level looks miles better than an army of 195 grey plastic dudes and 5 guys that are painted to 10/10 level.
  10. Was it the Earthshaker Battery or the Basilisk? Same gun, big difference in the rules! The Battery cannot fight in the Fight phase, is automatically hit by enemies in the Fight phase, it can shoot at models within 1” of itself (somehow), and friendly models can shoot at enemies within 1” of it.
  11. All of them. Terrain permitting.
  12. I’ve always wanted a Drop Pod that turns into a light fortification once landed. Think a very small Aegis Defence Line, in function, that gets air dropped. Picture a normal drop pod, but connected to each of the “ramp doors,” there’s an armored wall section that folds up, swings over toward the next door, then locks in place. “Tactical Drop Shrine” sounds like a great name for it.

That is a lot of indoor toilets for a faux-medieval building. There are a mere six in the White Tower, which was the primary royal palace for the English monarchy for two centuries (and used as a less important residence for a century or so after that). Yes, this is the kind of information I store in my brain. I can’t tell you my own mother’s birthday, but I can tell you how many “thrones” Henry Plantagenet sat upon.
  14. Oh, okay, you’re right... Mea culpa. I’m a bit sketchy on Blood Angels.
  15. There is true Evil in this world.
  16. I’ve resigned myself to probably only getting a unit a month done. The dreaded “Real Life” is getting in the way. So despite my reluctance to field unpainted plastic, I’m going to shoot for at least that much. My 2018 goal is to be able to have a fully painted and based 250(ish) unit every month. January: Six Aggressors & Captain I Februrary: Ten Intercessors & Captain II March: Ten Intercessors & Company Ancient
  17. Interestingly enough, because of the order in which the Strength bonus and the weapon strength multiplier are applied, a Death Company with a Thunder Hammer is S 10. With a Jump Pack giving them Fly, a squad of jumping Death Company with a few hammerers are amongst the best anti-aircraft units in the Imperium! 😳 They can also tussle with Knights pretty well. They probably won’t survive, but they can really put the hurt on one. I’d include one hammer in every five Death Company, minimum.
  18. With Power Swords being S User (so a 4 for most Marines) and AP -3, they are the best choice against targets that rely on Saves over Toughness* to shrug off hits or low(er) Toughness targets with good Invulnerable Saves, like Crusaders, who basically ignore AP anyway since they have good Invulnerables. A Power Maul is S+2 (so a 6 for Marines) but only AP -1. This means the ideal target is low Save (5+ or worse) units that rely on Toughness to shrug off hits or (more commonly) just rely on having enough bodies in the unit to not care (much) about casualties**. But, we’re not talking a stark night-and-day difference here. There is a measurable difference, of course, but for a “filthy casual”*** you probably needn’t worry about it that much. * Sisters of Battle and Aspect Warriors being the most common. ** Tyranid ‘gaunts and Guardsmen, being prime examples. *** Like me!
  19. Hmm. Gonna have to mathhammer this later...
  20. Do Gretchin have Objective Secured?
  21. They don’t want the film rights license to the Spider-Man IP to revert to Marvel Comics (and thereby get transferred to Marvel Studios) when they can keep milking money out of the stone.
  22. The question is, can they kill them fast enough... The game only lasts so many turns.
