  1. You "dislike" Forgeworld too. I guess I can place both of those opinions in the same file...
  2. My standard tournament list right now is 5 flyrants, 2 dakka fexes, malanthrope, 2 ObSec deep striking ripper swarms, 2 DS rippers and a termagaunt brood 10 FB/5Devourers for hive fleet troops. It's given me a kind of MSU troop presence for doing maelstrom type stuff, and is killy as hell. You definitely use the tyrants to score things late game and usually by then you've de-fanged the other guy's army. I'm really not sure that the Scythed Hiero is adding much to a tyranid army that you don't generally have lots of anyway. Killing marines, even in cover is never an issue. With the barbed you're getting long range high strength which isn't available anywhere else unless you like throwing away points on rupture cannons. I've been kicking around a list on battlescribe that has a 6th flyrant, 2 mawlocs and a venomthrope that is only there for a first turn before taking off situation. But it's all mucolids for troops which truly is a table or lose proposition a lot of the time. It's doable with ITC missions since you're going to hurt the other guy's army pretty badly most of the time so scoring objectives by landing late game is doable. But I really don't like troops that really don't contribute outside of allowing a null deployment.
  3. Wait wait wait, full strength D weapons? Really?
  4. A War Convocation with a single assassin and some Drop Pods? Shenanigans? Really?
  5. Have you seen this guy and his Lions? hehe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8ev2fy-5b8 Just sayin man. :D
  6. You'll hit like a truck, but every model lost will be dear. Very glass hammerish imo
  7. It doesn't matter who, just that it's possible. It being a possibility if they weren't changed, it was going to be done since the ITC is for tournaments and tournament players have no reason not to.
  8. Ranged D weapons were banned because it's not particularly fun to just remove models wholesale without any way to defend against it. There is no amount of playing against a weapon carried by wraithguard 1 shotting my MCs that is going to make it fun. It seems the vast majority of the player base for ITC events agree with my thoughts on that. If D weapons only easily obliterated death stars or expensive units and not, quite literally, everything in the game then maybe it would be more accepted.
  9. I've managed to blind things with Tyranid Gargoyles several times. Most notably good against Necrons.
  10. All Tyranid MCs except the Dimachaeron are naturally Fearless or a Synapse Creature. So, yeah, immune to pinning. If facing that formation, and not going first, a Tyranid player would need to deploy accordingly to deal with that. Not to say every list is going to have the tools to keep the assault squads from hitting any MCs, but most of mine do. :D
  11. Wow.... Dimachaeron as a GC. Oh, please?
  12. Is that what I said? Look at what you quoted. Did I say I was positive about Tyranids? Am I hallucinating?
  13. First, tank traps are not going to obscure 25% of any of the TMCs. Secondly, your shrouded bubbles can't be everywhere at once. People have no issues targetting the non shrouded bugs in my experience. Thirdly, those bikes get to zoom around the board scoring objectives at will, while firing their 36" range guns, while the Tyranids have to huddle in ruins with their shrouded bubble to survive and you don't see a problem with the situation?
  14. Okay, so I point out that a 3+ reserve roll, and then a 1 in 3 hit on a scatter is not reliable, and this has somehow made me a pessimist? I'm entirely positive about Tyrants, Malanthropes/Venomthropes, and Dakkafexes. Less so on lots of other things, but that's because I've played with those other things and got my [big bad swear word] pushed in. How many times do I need to get my ass handed to me before I'm allowed to say that those other things are the problem? It's not like I'm terrible at 40K. I'm certainly not a great player, but if I get consistently housed by the average player at the GG league when I play the Endless swarm army, or the Subterranean swarm army that I play around with when I'm not wanting to run tyrants down someone's throat then there's a problem somewhere. Hell, maybe I am just a baddie and need you to teach me how to make all these other things work, since I can't seem to get it done myself.
  15. A full distance scatter is not reliable though.
  16. 1. Dakkafexen in pods. Hive Crones. LAN biovores maybe? 2. There is no real way to kill a Wraithknight without ridiculous levels of tailoring. Ignore and play the mission? 3. Dreadknights just get dragged down by poison troops ideally. Dakkafexen here too. 4. Hive Guards. Lictors flesh hooks in rear armor. Dakkafexen devourer down the transport and, if close enough, assault the contents? 5. Terminators you just pile wounds on. Don't bother messing with AP. Just make them roll lots of saves. 6. Same as #5 here. As an aside, mucolids don't explode if you deep strike them on things, they just mishap.
  17. Pax, don't take this as a personal attack, you know I don't have an issue with you personally. You simply have no idea what you're talking about here.
  18. While 5 attacks is nice, WS3 is not. He's not any harder to kill than a standard carnifex, and not having synapse in an HQ slot is a deal breaker. If he was an upgrade for a fex squad like the Red Terror for raveners, then he'd see the table. As currently constituted, he's a no go in any but the softest armies for me.
  19. To add to this list, things that have been functional for me are carnifex with devourers, and Dimachaerons to a lesser extent. Dimas are a CC bug that is actually good at CC, but still only moves 6" a turn, so difficult to get to CC. All of the other CC specialized bugs also have the slow problem, but also have huge problems. Haruspex doesn't seem to have a role, with WS3, only 3 attacks, no option to get a second CC weapon, it has crushing claws, which would seem to point it towards vehicle hunting, but moving so slowly means you'll never catch a vehicle that doesn't want you to. Toxicrene has a nice number of attack, and a very good I, but no grenades, WS3 again, and with AS4+ just gets ruined by crack grenades. A largish tactical squad in cover will hand this thing it's ass before it even gets to attack.
  20. Relax Nathan, he's convinced that myself and every other Tyranid player has never tried any list other than flyrant lists. Just let him have his own reality, and leave him to it.
  21. I can play if you need someone. I just don't have 20 I can spare atm.
