  1. Orange! Dark and desaturated orange, think old rust. Also, I really dig a good purple. Tough color to get right and you nailed it.
  2. Really digging the scheme! Have plans for basing? Winter and snow could really make these guys pop. Plus, matches up with the "Terror Legion" theme nicely. Winter is when it's dark and the monsters come out of the dark
  3. Looks ace! I almost painted mine up as a clean loyalist. Then I had the fantastic idea to make him a Plague Marine. Now he's in 14 parts on my desk and my Magic Sculp supply is dwindling.
  4. Damn, that's a sexy Sphinx mini! Awaiting the inevitably gorgeous paint job you'll give it. What's the plan? Neutral, tawny tans? Pops of warm reds and yellows? Jade green and bubblegum pink? Inquiring minds want to know...
  5. My players killed the green Dragon! I was all set for a TPK and they rolled him hard. I didn't hold back and they slayed that poor, baby murderlizard! I did have the Cleric Raedroth cast Protection from Poison on them right before they left his house and it saved 2 ccharacter. I was playing him as a crotchety old, backwater druid. Crusty exterior but soft and sweet on the inside. He cast it on them without them knowing because the Mage cast mend object on his simple clay bowl. As a little throwaway I had their knock on his door startle him and drop his bowl, for beginners they roleplayed the heck out of that encounter and gained a silent ally for life. Just to drive it home, when they came back to his cottage they noticed his boots and a shovel by his door were muddy. He took them out back and showed them the 4 fresh graves he'd dug for them and the 11 filled graves he'd dug for the previous adventures that weren't as lucky as they'd been.
  6. Oooh, fancy lad with his access to O's. When I was a lad we were too poor for O's. We were just p__r.
  7. Ended up going with DnD 5e. Running the "Beginners Box" adventure through video chat for 3 beginners. Really enjoying it so far. Sent a bag of 100 assorted rpg dice to 2 of my players with this message attached. π”‡π”’π”žπ”― 𝔄𝔑𝔳𝔒𝔫𝔱𝔲𝔯𝔒𝔯𝔰 β„‘ π”₯𝔬𝔭𝔒 𝔱π”₯𝔒𝔰𝔒 𝔀𝔦𝔣𝔱𝔰 𝔣𝔦𝔫𝔑 𝔢𝔬𝔲 𝔴𝔒𝔩𝔩. π”“π”©π”’π”žπ”°π”’, 𝔠𝔬𝔫𝔰𝔦𝔑𝔒𝔯 𝔱π”₯𝔒 𝔠π”₯π”žπ”«π” π”’ π” π”²π”Ÿπ”’π”° 𝔑𝔒𝔩𝔦𝔳𝔒𝔯𝔒𝔑 𝔱𝔬 𝔢𝔬𝔲𝔯 π”₯𝔬π”ͺ𝔒 π”žπ”° π”žπ”° π”ͺ𝔢 𝔠𝔬𝔫𝔑𝔬𝔩𝔒𝔫𝔠𝔒𝔰. 8. Walk down the plumbing isle and the gutters section. Lots of cool shaped pieces in there. Haven't tried any of the textured foam though.
  9. I'm a big fan of Milliput for gap filler. Being water based, it's a breeze to smooth and blend. Will still try this, can't have enough tools in the toolbox.
  10. 1) Happily done! 2) I'm like 80% sure we've actually had a beer at an OFCC before. If not, we'll rectify that this year. Obligatory Knight stuff. Sounds cool. Whatcha thinking paint scheme-wise? Undivided? Rust and Nurgle? Dried blood and Khorne? Something else?
  11. Gotcha, you are correct;) Thought you were referring to OFCC, apologies.
  12. All good points. I think we're not meeting eye-to-eye on two, important facts. OFCC isn't a tournament. OFCC isn't for the competitive community. It's a gaming event. A gathering for those who want something besides a tournament for the competitive community. It's for guys and girls like me. A place to bring an un-optomised list that you've always wanted to play but doesn't have the "punch" for a tournament. Last thing I want is for you to feel like I jumped on ya, I'll happily buy you a beer and regale you with all the things I love about OFCC.
  13. Oooh, I like that scheme. Love the zenithal technique as well. Eagerly awaiting pics, good luck!
  14. Saw you mention using Montana Gold/Black earlier in the thread. Have you ever used them? Asking because I'm a huge fan of the line but there's definitely a bit of a curve using them. They're for graffiti so they have 2 main stong points. Highly saturated colors, yay! Dumping a lot of paint quickly, not so yay. Still think they're an awesome option. Fantastic colors and coverage, not crazy expensive. Old metal models are great for this. Spray them, make your mistakes and learn. Drop in Simple Green, scrub and repeat. Practice a bit before trying on your "real" models.
  15. Is your Podcast called "Contrast and Chill"? Not finding it on my podcast app. I use Pocket Casts if that helps. Shoot, just re-read your very first line. Says Hobby cast, not podcast. Where can I watch/listen?
  16. Oi! We'z gunna loot dat. Ded kwik. Make a right ard boom-waggin
  17. Went to TerraCrux in Tacoma and talked with Cody. Great guy, he had a lot of advice. Lined up with the collected wisdom of the interwebz as well. Went with the DnD 5e Beginners Box, and a PHB. Best part was explaining to the Wife how important a new set of dice is. She went with an opaque, ice blue set. Then I explained how we may share a life and a home, but she's not allowed to touch my new neon bubblegum pink dice. Thanks for the help, super stoked!
  18. Whelp, that happened. Just about pulled the trigger on a Lamenters scheme, I do love me some yellow. Searching up some cool weathering techniques for yellows and kept seeing some stellar Plague Marines.... So now he's all cut up and I'm doing a Plague Marine out of him. Quick and easy painting project turned into an extensive conversion. Actually, pretty par for the course. Will take pics later tonight when I get to a good stopping point.
  19. So I haven't played a tabletop RPG in about 15 years. Was kinda into them for a good portion of my formative years but drifted away. My wife's BFF just hit her up out of the blue asking if we've ever played DnD. Nerd card tested and interest piqued. We don't get to hang out anymore and she figured it would be a good way to hang out over Skype and do something fun. Looking like it'll be me and my beautiful lady, her BFF and husband ( both are absolutely fantastic people ), and their friend. I don't know the guy but everyone else does so he's likely to be a cool guy. I believe I'm the only one with RPG experience. So the question is...where do we start? Was thinking a Pathfinder, adventure path. Seems like the logical choice but I'm super open to suggestions. Thanks!
  20. Was in a hobby funk and this guy struck my eye. Nice little palette cleaner. Grey rubbery plastic, about seven inches tall, generic bolter dude. Now the real question, what Chapter should I do? No bling whatsoever so Space Puppies, Black Templars and other doodad heavy chapters are out. I have a soft spot for the second tier guys so I was thinking maybe Celestial Lions. That said, I don't have much gold experience and that's a LOT of ceramite. Could go Lamenters as well. Any suggestions?
  21. Please please please...pirate hats and boat Trukks.
  22. Soooo....My OFCC army for next year is Orks, counts-as Marines. Doing all Dreads though. Scratches three itches. Dread Mob, Orks as Marines and all Dreads. Words words words, I challenge your Blakk Templorks with my Adeptorks Killstartes!
  23. That's bananas! What did they send on round two? Never needed it but I've always heard good things about GW customer service. Sorry to hear that you've had a rough go.
  24. I've had zero interest in Sigmar so far, I love 40k and already don't have enough time to build and play. That said...I'm super interested in this. Would bellying up to the table with a full giant force be a douche move? Playable and enjoyable from both sides of the table?
