Trip Report: The Shoe was great! Beer was incredibly cheap with a decent selection. No particularly dark beers this week, but they did have Mac & Jacks and $10 pitchers or $4 pints during their Tuesday All-Day Happy Hour special. The pitchers made about 3.5 glasses so... $2.86 a pint? Pretty great. They also had $3 wells or wine for non-beer folk. As for food, they had a good assortment of <$10 bar snacks as well as a $7.50 Bar Burger that doesn't come with fries. They also had a pretty decent sandwich, burger, and salad menu with prices around $10 for the entrees. The new Ranch Room is very nicely refurbished with nice big tables, good lighting levels, and no loud music or anything. The place was also fairly deserted on a Tuesday night so good news there. Service was order-at-the-bar, which was fine by me and the kitchen time was reasonable. With the better beer prices and slightly spendier food prices, I'd say it actually balances out pretty well to what we were paying at NYP. Food quality might be a little lower, but it depends on what you're after.

I'll make sure to report back on how the Shoe goes tonight. I'd also love it if we could go to the Rook & Rogue, but their hours are the biggest concern for me. Their prices really aren't too far off from what we're likely to find most places that aren't millions in debt and going bankrupt like our old stomping grounds.

We tried McKay's before, but it was a little crowded and expensive for our tastes I seem to recall. Also poor seating options? That said if people are craving a pizza solution, that is on the table. I believe the plan for this week is to try out the Shoe?

I've got an Armada game scheduled with Leif. Pew pew says the Star Destroyer!

Actually I've got a date to feast on some starships in Armada, but I can catch you the week after if you'd like.

All I had to eat was a Dark Elf army and now I'm still hungry. Thanks a lot! :P

My Beasts will be chowing down on some Dwarfflesh so there might be leftovers we could share. Those little dudes are hella stout and super filling.

My bad, it did have a third turn, but it was such a crushing victory for the Imperials that we ended up calling it after that. We had a good time while playing it all though and I'd definitely run another campaign someday :)

I believe they don't serve food after 10 and are kind of expensive, but it's on the table (no pun intended). I'm thinking we'll need to call an emergency meeting Tuesday night over beers and review our options going forward.

You are correct, except unless it's being intentionally misspelled for comedic value, it's Kacy :) Also for those who missed it, since NYP has closed their doors we're planning on Bayou after games.

I saw the NYP news on Facebook and came over here to make sure everyone is okay. I agree that we should convene at Bayou this week and assess our options.

That seems to be selling bound spells a little short. Average roll on 4 casting dice would be 14 and an average on 2 dispel dice with a +3 is only 10. Also bound spells have a nice benefit of having zero negative effects on a miscast if you use 3 or less dice and using 4 of more dice only causes you to lose the spell, not roll on the regular table. On an average magic phase you should still be able to get at least one bound spell off, and there is always the option to take the rune that gives your casters +1 to cast :)

Sure I'm down. If you have any experimental list ideas you're thinking about, now might be a good time to try them out. I'm trying something completely different and I'm not sure how good it'll be!

Would you or @JimmyTheFist be up for a solo game instead? I'm *gasp* thinking of trying out a new list.

I'll have my stuff down for 9th or Armada. I'd prefer a solo game to a team game, but I guess I'd give the team game a shot.

I very rarely listen to podcasts, but when I do the ones I try to keep up on the most are our very own Skill & Bones Radio and The Real Middle Ages. Along with these, the other one I try to keep current with (and am currently only about 3 months behind...) is: Jay & Miles Xplain the X-Men: Weekly podcast where a couple from Portland who work in the comics industry go through every X-Men comic and dive deep into continuity starting with Silver Age stuff from the 60s and are now at the beginning of the 90s after 160 episodes, having branched out to cover New Mutants, X-Factor, and Excalibur with special non-continuity stuff and interviews with X-related comics folks along the way. Super entertaining, great information, and also lots of great analysis of the highlights/shortcomings of the older eras from feminist/representationally aware points of view. I also have occasionally listened to a few episodes of: The Kaiju-Cast: Focused on Godzilla and other kaiju with lots of good news and information, kaiju movie reviews, and kaiju-related music. Intensify Forward Firepower: Star Wars Armada podcast by a group of dudes. Good analysis of tactics, new releases, and some tournament battle recaps. Some of the opinions should be taken with a grain of salt... Scum & Villainy: It's been a while since I've listened, but this used to be the premier X-Wing podcast. If they're still running it, they did pretty much what the above guys did, but for X-Wing.

I'm down for either 9th or Armada. I just played Sherbert last week so someone else should play his Orcs and then someone else else should play meeee.

I'm already playing Sherbert, but I'd be willing to bow out for Armada if @greenwoodcan make it and wants to Armada some more (or if anyone else wants to Armada)
