  1. I'd call it a "reference sheet" instead of a "cheat sheet", but I was just about to make that same suggestion.
  2. Read the section I linked at Project Rho. They go a bit into the physics of the matter, and conclude that if you're using a laser that's going to do a significant amount of damage in a quick enough time to use as a gun rather than as a cutting beam, the results at the other end are going to be explosive, to at least some extent.
  3. You gave me a laser cutting torch. I ain't seen no laser weapons posted here yet.
  4. Oh, I forgot. There's at least one semi-canon source (A Dan Abnett story) that describes Lasgun fire as a flat crack, not nearly as loud or penetrating as would be expected.
  5. That's not a laser rifle, that's a laser cutting torch. Project Rho on Combat Lasers: http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/sidearmenergy.php#id--Laser_Beam
  6. A laser that was effective in combat would actually make some noise. It's just that it would originate from the target, as a chunk of armour/clothing/gear/flesh burns away fast enough to be considered a minor explosion.
  7. It's a cheesy lightweight romcom, so don't expect anything particularly mind-blowing or thought-provoking, but taken for what it it, D.E.B.S. was a whole lot of fun.
  8. Sleepy Hollow just wrapped up its first Season, and it was excellent. Best intro season for something with plans this big that I've seen in a long time. I also just got around to watching the 5th Season of Venture Bros. I'd gotten kind of worried when things started going off the rails in Season3 and the first part of Season 4, but the latter half of 4 and 5 pulled it all back together. Brilliant work, and I can't wait for Season 6.
  9. Yep, it works. Not great, as the ranges and profiles don't match up wonderfully, but within the scope of the Rules, it works.
  10. This reminds me that I need to get back to my Daemon Prince project, which the next step of which is putting Cockatrice wings on The Nightbringer. I'll try to remember to get some pics as I go through that.
  11. I think my favorite moment from the night was actually after the game, when I was on my way back home. I was waiting for the ferry, and as it unloaded, everyone was just belting out We Are the Champions. Just a beautiful little moment there.
  12. Amusingly, despite how tall the Trygon Model is, he still can't hit anything more than one level of Ruins above his base with the Template version. I'm also in the camp that the Mawloc doesn't actually Deploy until after TftD resolves, and so Warp Quake doesn't trigger until then.
  13. I don't have anything specific in mind, but give Reaper's range a browse. They've got plenty that you could slap a bolt pistol on and get a pretty cool inquisitor out of.
  14. @Galahad911: The Mawloc specifies that it always hits the Ground Floor of Ruins. It's one of the exceptions it has to normal Blasts.
  15. When I was in Germany I would occasionally go to this Pizza Hut that was downtown because I got homesick, and it was pretty close to how it is in America. But it was so weird watching everyone eat their pizza with knife and fork. Eating with your hands still isn't really a thing in Germany except for street food.
  16. The thing is, if you're out of LoS during their Shooting Phase, you're going to be out of LoS at the start of your Turn, when you need to have it to use Maledictions. If that were a Witchfire and the BroodLord had decent BS, it would be a different story, but as it is, it's a problem.
  17. I think that, as I mentioned earlier, Demolishers would serve that role better. Hellhounds aren't ignorable, but there are a lot of Units that aren't exactly terrified of them. Demolishers, on the other hand, scare just about everything, and they've got a similar target profile to the Super Heavy, so they further stretch your Opponent's Anti-Heavy Tank resources.
  18. Oh, don't get me wrong, they're good against enough things that I think they're worth taking. I just think they're far, far from being a "hard counter" for Tau.
  19. Between Markerlights and Smart Missile Systems, I don't see Venomthropes surviving long against most of the Tau Lists I generally face.
  20. My copy of the Rulebook says that Stubborn applies to Morale and Pinning Tests.
  21. The Unit being Charged does not have to have Supporting Fire or be from the Tau Codex, it just has to be "Friendly", so Tau Codex Units and Battle Bros.
  22. Hoard O' Bitz is probably the only one that's going to reliably fit all of those criteria. I also use Bitz Barn, they sometimes have better prices, and don't group bitz like Hord O' Bitz does, but their selection isn't as good, and is really variable, since they deal in second-hand bitz rather than breaking down boxes themselves.
  23. Finally got around to seeing Desolation of Smaug. It was fun, but felt like it was trying too hard in places, kind of pulled me out of it at a couple of points. Also, Peter Jackson still doesn't know how to do a Wizard's Duel properly. That looked like a NIN music video from the 90s or something. Also, Lee Pace has very impressive eyebrows. Those were total scene-stealers.
  24. I might have to go for it if it's still up when I get my tax return. The way the new Dex works, I'm thinking I could use a lot more little bugs.
