  1. Are you sure that the malware is not flash itself? Personally, I use ad-aware as my disinfectant of choice. That, in combination with Spybot is usually a solid combination and both are free.
  2. I should look in more detail at the general addition chemistry that he goes through. I know about dopamine but the stuff further along in the chain is news to me and intriguing on a number of levels. Cool find.
  3. Not sure your title is correct. Note that this is being developed by Wargaming.net. Until I hear how they intend to monetize it I will withhold judgement.
  4. I believe the best summary of that is from Dave Kellett...
  5. This is not a 100% truth. In board gaming it is far from 100% and is often indicated by comments like "I don't really like this game but I'll play to be social." There are also personality types that are interested in other things... Winning to them is doing the most unexpected thing or carrying a personal vendetta into the game. There are lots of games where balance is predicated on the idea that everyone is using the same definition of win and that everyone is interested in being the sole winner by those rules. I suspect that it is the case that most or all of the people in this forum are going to fall into the category or gamers who *do* strive to win by the definition in the rules but I know there are a number of people I consider good friends who I will not play anything but co-op games with because they throw games based on grudges or "because they're bored and want the game to end". Keep those in mind when thinking about balancing changes and how you structure things.
  6. The Battletech kickstarter for Harebrained is live and funded at the basic level. They're tiers are pretty straight forward. They start with skirmish mode, expand that, add a single-player campaign and expand that and then add multi-player support. The basic skirmish is, as I said, funded with the single-player campaign at about 4x current funding when last I looked. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/webeharebrained/battletech
  7. Ummm, Co-Producer means the money. Who cares about the money? You would not think GamesWorkshop has a lot to do with how the game plays or how buggy it is, right? The other titles by the code monkeys are: Etherium, Stellar Impact and Bunker Constructor (an iPhone app not ported to android). Etherium came out in May to mixed reviews and a 62 metacritic. Stellar Impact came out in Apr of 2012. Immediately got 4 DLCs for pay and then was abandoned by the Devs less than a year later. Reviews are mostly negative. Metacritic is a 74. Most helpful review for Stellar Impact begins So yeah, color me skeptical.
  8. Not fond of the company they have doing dev for it based on prior releases... Looks like it has been in the works for two years or more and has been their exclusive focus to the detriment of all other properties. Graphics look absolutely gorgeous. Although it is true to the tabletop game, I am sad that it is 2-dimensional. Gameplay looks to be real-time, not turn-based, and there was no mention of a turn-based option which is what made BloodBowl such a successful adaptation. They make a big deal about the single-player campaign but I know nothing about their ability to write AI so I cannot comment on whether or not that aspect of the game will even matter. For me, I will say that the single-player aspect is what I enjoyed most about Space Marine and Dawn of War so it influences my decision about the game although it may not impact yours.
  9. You cannot get the old school mechs. The company that owns the rights to them is decidedly not selling, hence the name Unseen. My personal favorite was always the Rifleman and the Jagermech is not a valid substitute.
  10. Well, I would ask if you have played (or run in this case) Vampire in a face-to-face setting. You'll have to make a decision about the honor system for rolls up front but if you are on computers instead of PS4, that can be addressed. The question is "in practice, what do you experience when playing face-to-face?" We always find it helpful to be able to throw up a basic map on a white board to make sure everyone gets what is going on. That's why we use Roll20. Those are things that differ for every group though so I can't tell you how it will work for you or any group you play with. The biggest issue with not being face-to-face is the ease with which people get distracted though. Will your players be distracted by the TV they are sitting next to? Will someone walk in and expect them to do something else because after all they are just sitting and talking with someone online and that is not as important as cleaning out the gutters... And that will be true regardless of whether or not you can make you system work with the arrangement. Make sure that your players are responsible enough to be online and actually committed to playing or it will be an exercise in frustration.
  11. D&D is not really viable because it is more tactical miniatures system than simple RPG. Something that is based on theater of the mind is a better choice (e.g. 7th Sea or Fate, both of which actually discourage mapping). Even for those, we have found that an online mapping option helps. I'm actually playing a game through https://roll20.net/ with friends around the US. This resolves both the need for maps and a dice-roller. There are also sites like https://rolz.org/ which provide group rooms for rolling dice without the added functionality of maps and such. Virtual roleplaying *does* work. I'm not trying to discourage or anything but want to stress that you need to think about how you play when face-to-face and decide what system to use based on the resources you have available when playing online.
  12. Notes suggest that a venue has been determined. What is that venue?
  13. Details on the book preez. Dun wanna get the inevitable spoilers if I go to IMDB to find out about the author.
  14. Indeed, this should be very interesting.
  15. Interesting? What did you do to get labelled the BETRAYER? Can you answer that in a question?
  16. Would I be bored if there were all this great American TV others talk about?
  17. LIES! What I would say is that they have similar instrumentation... Deadmau5 believes that tones should be long enough to actually register. Skrillex chops everything short and heightens his distortion. By comparison...
  18. Can you have more than one Dweller out exploring at the same time? I tried a few things (mostly stupid human tricks) early on and when I finally settled down to start something that was not intentionally testing something I wound up drawing Sarah Lyons (with her T-51f power armor and Wazer Wifle) which means that I can send her out for hours at a time without thinking about it. Now that I have a bit more equipment and the ability to train people I am wondering if I can send other people out while she is out there as well.
  19. Not sure it counts as a trap but it certainly leads to some damn strange links in my search engines...
  20. de nada Work from home. Don't need to pack life around like a marsupial any more.
  21. I have an aversion to all thing i* because I just don't see proprietary as the way to go... Not for hardware, not for software. Yes, Apple sets a minimum threshold for quality but it also means jacking up the price more than I am willing to pay. Personal phone is a Samsung Galaxy (G3 I think) and work is a G5 because I know how they work and knew there would be no problems.
  22. Good bye, everyone. It's been nice knowing you. Fallout Shelter is available for Android.
  23. So how does it play? Is it a turn-based mechanic like Twilight Imperium or does it do something different? When you say you played 6 hours, was that one game? Box says 2-3 hours. Should I double that for a learning game or are they under reporting or is it just that there's enough balance that the game can drag on forever?
  24. Are you looking for a specific *flavor* of game? Avalon Hill's Titan is a hex-based map with very specific movement restrictions that make for a very movement mechanic paired with a recruiting/army building mechanic and a more vanilla fighting mechanic. If you're going for pure strategy and tactics, this is a good one.
  25. Ok, did Marvel redo his origin story? I thought that Deadpool was a product of Stryker's labs and this trailer certainly doesn't make it look that way. Aside from that little confusion, I enjoyed the trailer enough to want to shell out bucks for it.
