  1. Magneto has more than just toy trains. Worth noting that the budget for Gallopin' Gertie was $6.4 mil. The original X-men movie was $75 mil and it has only gone up from there.
  2. I don't commute often enough to make it worthwhile but in recent trades I have found that I can ship via USPS Priority for the cost of a cheeseburger and fries (or in some case just the cheeseburger) so I have been offering people the option of waiting until I drive or paying shipping. Been kinda 50/50 on that one. Who *does* make the drive regularly? If we had a known courier then people might be more willing to make use of the arrangement.
  3. From Shultzy's to Card Kingdom is going to be about 15 minutes. Hasn't been my part of the world for almost 20 years though so I dunno who the Ordo contingent down there is these days.
  4. Did he ask about wasting time or waisting time? Shultzy's is awesome, no argument. Are you looking for food, bar, game shop, comic shop?
  5. 40 clannies with two full units of command per IoB. 20 of them are armed with HW+shield (well, 18 plus a standard and a musician), 20 with spear+shield. The shields are molded as part of the body so you cannot get rid of them but the weapon arms are separate pieces so they would not be hard to pull weapons off of. The skaven army I just sold off used skinks as slaves which I noticed when he said he was including skinks and lizardmen for weapon conversions.
  6. Meh. Lankhmar and Redwall both predate the Skaven. Best they be careful how they go about claiming they own anthropomorphic rodentia.
  7. I have a bunch of the clannies but no ROs. Looking for cash. Let me know which ones you are interested in and I will see how many I have.
  8. I will get this stuff in time. Keep posting! I am at Gamestorm starting Thursday. We're down at the Hilton Vancouver (301 W 6th) right on Esther Short Park (a block or two north of the Red Lion where we've had Ordo events). I'm familiar with Tommy O's and a few others right in the area (Tiger Garden (Thai), Little Italy's Trattatoria, Torque Coffee and the occasional food truck that comes to their parking lot as well as the Farmer's Market, of course).... Anything else worth noting in walking distance for a gaming con? Reasonably fast sit down or "fast" food is probably preferred.
  9. Multiman Publishing's Squad Leader board game? Yeah, I played the Squad Leader and Advanced Squad Leader. If that's what you mean, let me know and I will give you a long commentary.
  10. I agree but they're just not as engaging if you don't get the references and the last thing you want to do is turn your YA *off* Terry Pratchett because it was just another story... I should have mentioned above, the Tiffany Aching books are part of the Discworld series but the other two are not set in the Discworld. (Neither is Good Omens but that has decidedly more adult themes and needs to be screened before being handed to a YA.)
  11. In the YA realm, look for some specific ones... There's a collection about Tiffany Aching (Wee Free Men, A Hat Full of Sky and I Shall Wear Midnight). There's also the Nome Trilogy and the Johnny Maxwell Trilogy. Other portions of the Discworld stuff may have too many references that will be lost on kids. Read them yourself (you'll find them hilarious) and then decide if your YA will get it or not.
  12. I haven't seen so many FACTs in one conversation since the last time I turned on C-SPAN by accident. When did you all get into Politics? I was going to mock Yarb when he did it at the top of the page but since I have not seen How to Train Your Dragon 2 or The Lego Movie yet I held off. Now I have to figure out whether to believe the 4/10 or the 8/10 ratings for them.
  13. Looking for someone crazy enough to run a teaching game in the Seattle area over the next couple of weeks. Anyone up here available (or able to point me at an online tutorial)?
  14. Depends on how much they think it needs to be "updated" I guess. Personally, I think it has great pacing for a drama as long as they don't feel the need to spice it up and make it an action flick. It's already got plenty of special effects opportunities so there's no need to go breaking it for that... I agree with you though, andozone... Too pessimistic to believe that they can do it without destroying the core of it to make it flashy these days.
  15. Booooo. It's been taken down for copyright. I managed to see the first couple of minutes but then got interrupted and when I got back it didn't matter that I had already downloaded. Anyone got a link to an alternative site?
  16. The problem I had with it (and I will admit that I was not happy with the beginning of this season and stopped watching 3-4 episodes in) was that they seem to have *terrible* pacing issues. When they have a cross-over or tie-in they're great and they have things to say and do and move forward on and when they don't they're in this terrible holding pattern where nobody can develop and nothing of substance seems to happen. We really enjoyed the last half of last season and then felt like this season slowed back down and failed to keep up with the end of last season.
  17. I'm still hoping that he'll be back at the end of the third movie.
  18. Hrmmm. Never heard of Ogre Battle. Maybe I need to kill intrizic and give it a try. :)
  19. Just details about Retron since people have commented on it. Skip if you are not interested. Since people have commented on it, the Retron series is a group of console emulators produced by a company named Hyperkin (Hyperkin.com). They are fully licensed and are building new hardware (not refurbished or modded) using specs from the companies they've bought license from (mostly Nintendo). Pink Gorilla (www.pinkgorillagames.com) in Seattle carries some of their consoles. Retron1 - NES only Retron2 - NES and Super NES (and Famicom, Super Famicom) Retron3 - NES/SNES/Famicom/Super Famicom/Genesis Retron5 - NES/SNES/Famicom, Super Famicom, Genesis, Mega Drive, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advanced I run Zelda, Zelda II, Super Mario Brothers, MegaMan X, Ghosts and Goblins and Chronotrigger on mine. I agree wholeheartedly with BB, above, and will mention that I only posted my "Boo for marketing" post to yank Swan's chain. He works for Nintendo here in Seattle and so I was just tweaking him. I never owned a SNES (it was released while I was in college) but I did pick up a Gamecube and a Wii. I have been less impressed with the more recent titles though. I'm not interested in FPS games (not a fan of the interface in general or the kinds of gameplay that it facilitates in comparison to something like Pikmin or Civilization) so I generally don't get into consoles, especially not the modern ones. As a result, you can see my posts focused on computer gaming and a handful of console titles and for the most part I just /popcorn the rest of the console posts here.
  20. I missed this blatant employer plug. Boo for marketing! (You are still working over there, yes?) Personally, I am rockin' the Atari 2600 and a Retron2 (NES/Super NES emulator) at home.
  21. The xbone is the current gen I believe (successor to the 360). But I am a heathen who doesn't play consoles so I am only going based on the infighting that I /popcorn.
  22. New mount for the Slaan? Looks really nice. Ten to one says the stats suck...
  23. Yeah.... I wondered about that from the trailers. Do you think the visuals will translate to a 50" TV or do I need to see the eye-candy on the big screen somewhere?
  24. One drink to rule them all, one drink from grind then. One drink to bring them all and with the caffeine bind them!
