  1. I dunno that I can justify buying yet another title in the Civ series. The differences in IV and V were not large enough for me to justify paying for another copy and all the DLC. Don't get me wrong, I really *like* the games but for those familiar it's like the differences between the various 18xx games. Do I really need to drop another $30 (even if I wait for a sale) to pick up another copy?
  2. Honest Tailors. Where did you think heroes got their costumes? Can't support dishonest tailors.
  3. I absolutely agree that you are entitled to an opinion about the film. I'd disagree, however, that the rating for the movie should be based on what is in the film. Every viewer is going to bring their personal knowledge to every movie they watch and that is going to color their review. Interstellar is a 1/5 for me because I find the writing to be crap. I posted about it here when the movie came out and I very carefully mentioned that my rating was because I knew enough to see the writing as crap. Your opinion about anything is your and it is something that you are entitled to but for that opinion to matter in any way to other human beings you have to be willing to place your own opinion in context so people can determine whether they have any likelihood of agreeing with your viewpoint. Put another way... The best review I can get of a Sci-Fi movie is to see that the Seattle Times reviewer did *not* like it because he and I are polar opposites when it comes to opinions about Sci-Fi movies. Doesn't make him right or wrong, just means I know how to interpret his opinions and they don't match mine at all.
  4. I'm interested in more information about the Axis and Allies set. Please PM when you can.

    Prince

Nah, with George writing it means that Clown will be killed by Chelsea during a prolonged sexual escapade or by the mini-me clone of Bill three minutes before Hillary is supposed to take the stage to give her concession speech so that she can instead turn it into a gloating pronouncement. (Although I will readily admit that all the characters involved certainly *behave* like they are written by Martin so it could happen.)
  6. My phone died and I lost a lot of contact information. Can you contact me directly or clear some space in your inbox here so I can communicate with you by PM?
  7. You just have to Lego of your expectations.
  8. Hrmmmm, now I have to chime in with a me-too... Not that I want dibs, but that I have a big pile of MonPoc that I could ship out as a single lot (why didn't someone think of this *before* Gamestorm since I don't plan to come back down for PDXAGE? PM me if you would be interested in what is in the lot.
  9. Can I say that I want them to try because Google is a bigger gorilla and it might result in the application of chlorine to the gene pool?
  10. Sorry, that was an in-joke. Mospaeda works for Nintendo in Redmond just blocks away from the Microsoft campus.
  11. Kin, I am not interested in heroclix but I have a friend who collects. If he is interested are you willing to take the cash now but make the exchange in about three weeks when I am down for Gamestorm (you're Portland area as I recall?)?
  12. Do tell, deadwing! When are you planning to run it? I'll try to make sure I find it and get signed up.
  13. Since I thought of it when I was looking at a Rogue Trading thread, I figure I will actually announce it... Gamestorm is in Vancouver March 17-20. I will be driving from Seattle (actually just outside Woodinville) to Vancouver with space in the car if people want me to courier stuff down. Rates are negotiable and cheap (e.g. a bottle of Lefthand Milk Stout or a coffee when I meet you to get the item to deliver). Recipient probably needs to plan to meet me at the venue, Vancouver Hilton at 301 W, 6th. I do *not* want to get into handling cash so please plan accordingly. PM me if you need something delivered.
  14. Gamestorm is in Vancouver in late March. I will be driving from Seattle to Vancouver if you want me to courier for you. Plan is to drive Thursday morning if that is convenient for pick up (if I recall I usually hit Olympia about 10 am).
  15. Where are you located, what kind of prices are you interested in and do you have an inventory of the D&D stuff, particularly the second edition stuff (and what kind of condition is it in)?
  16. No offense to the Vikes... I gotta keep cheering for the Squawks (people around here are so much more upbeat when they have a team to cheer even if I don't care about them all that much) and the Packers (because who doesn't like sticking it to the league and the owners by reminding them how successful a small-market franchise which is publicly owned can be). I was in Milwaukee and Cleveland for training last fall and sadly both teams were away for the weekend I butted up against. I did at least get good weather for both trips though.
  17. Keep in mind that part of that is the choice of the defense. If I have to pick who I am going to give a cushion to and who I am going to smother, I smother the routes that have the potential to turn up the field. They didn't show us a lot of high shots of the coverage but in the few that they did show Denver was all over anyone who was running up field, including the seam routes most of the time. I suppose you could ask the question, "Does Carolina use button hooks," and I don't know the answer to that. There's a distinct difference between slants and button hooks and I don't think we saw any button hooks at all from them. I also don't recall many times that receivers came back toward the line of scrimmage but that probably has something to do with clearing out to make it possible for Cam to run.
  18. Urgency is one thing... Are you guys feeling like your strategies are constrained in any way? The reviews I saw were saying that unless you were marching straight at the extraction zone that you were not going to make it and that Overwatch was a thing of the past. Would you agree with that kind of comment or do you feel that you still have a use for all four types or soldiers?
  19. To be honest, what I like is the varied tactics that are possible... Sniping, flanking, ambushes, etc. Tight turn limits eliminate all that freedom.... Serious turn off for me.
  20. Read the negative reviews before buying. They consist mostly of "optimization pass desperately needed" and "turn limits are so tight that they eliminate all tactical freedom so don't buy unless you habitually run nothing but Assaults and maybe a Support or two."
  21. So consider getting a job tending bar in a brew-pub. I know a couple of guys who went that route to get to know the brewer and get involved to try and get a foot in the door up here in Seattle. Too soon to tell if it worked out for them. I personally have not brewed in 20 years. I find that my tastes have changed and I am not even sure how to brew what I drink myself these days (at least not in small batch) so I am content to pay the people who make the time to do so for me.
  22. Not to worry. GW is not about to lower prices to the point that an 8 year old can afford them and I don't think they're creative enough to having Tony the Ultramarine running around yelling "Guns! They're GREAAAAT!" just to get kids to hit up parents.
