  1. Oh, I’m not saying everyone necessarily likes the rules for the Orks. But it’s my experience we all have a certain fondness for the character of the Orks and for the people who play them. They've had some truly god awful rules over the years, with the “random = fun!” game design theory often being the main source of problems.
  2. My gut tells me they’re planning to fold those Specialist Detachments (or something very close to them) into the next round of codices. In many ways, Ninth Edition is more of an “8.5” Edition. The Vigilis Defiant and Psychic Awakening books were kind of a “8.2” and “8.2.5” patch...
  3. My big mistake was succumbing to “Oh, shiny!” syndrome and using deep-strike with my Achillus Dreadnought simply because I had never done it before. In retrospect, it would have been better to have him walk up the field... C’est la vive.
  4. I started collecting Sisters during second edition, they only got a codex a few months before third edition released and completely invalidated everything from second due to a ground-up rewrite of the system. It took something like seven years until Codex: Witchhunters came out during all that time the Sisters were stuck with the appendix of the main rulebook for an army list. It was rough.
  5. Stop muckin’ about in da rear! Get in there an’ get stuck in, ya pansy!
  6. One of my biggest regrets in my gaming life has been selling off my Sisters of Battle army. One day, I keep telling myself, I’ll start collecting them again... But every time I try, I just get sad. Sisters of Battle players, in my experience, are held in the same regard as Ork players by the rest of the player base: everyone loves ‘em. The army is generally middle-of-the-pack in terms of raw power, and over the years has had many a long spell of being bottom-of-the-pile... So anyone who sticks with them usually does so out of genuine love of the faction and not “power gaming.” So in the rare instances where a powerful combo is unlocked, the fanbase is usually happy for the players and not mad at them.
  7. Running a bit behind, be there ‘round 4:30.

The Supressor was designed specifically for the needs of patrolling the Underhive. The Supressor carries lighter armor and fewer armaments than the Repressor and lacks the standard Rhino-chassis tanks treads giving it worse performance in mud, dirt, or sand. However, such terrain is all but unknown in the Underhive and the gains in speed are considered more useful. The Supressor’s armor is light, but still provides excellent protect against most weaponry encountered in the Underhive.
  9. “Alexa, what is the best way to wash green blood off gold armor?”
  10. 40k would work for me. I think that if I put everything I’ve got on the table, I could do 2,000+ Points (Custodes add up quick!) but I’d prefer to stick with something smaller 500 or 1000 Points. I have a leaked list of the 9th Edition point values and can use them if you prefer. 8th Edition point values are easier since that’s what BattleScribe is still using... But either works for me. I’d also love to do a “warm up” Crusade game, I’ve already build my Order of Battle and adjusted it for 9th’s new point values.
  11. I’ve been extremely happy with my Flashforge Adventurer 3. Incredibly easy to use, quiet to operate, and extremely easy to set up... But it’s on the expensive side for an FDM printer. Plus the usual trade-off of FDM versus Resin of not being the same level of quality.
  12. And, of course for completeness sake, if we’re talking big stompy robots we should probably mention Imperial Knights and/or Renegade Knights. They’re the biggest stompiest robots in the game*. * ( Well, technically, Adeptus Titanicus and Dark Mechanicum Titans are fieldable in normal WH40k, but good luck finding anyone willing to play you. Although, I suppose if you have enough money to buy a WH40k scale army of Titans, you can probably also afford to buy freinds.)
  13. If you’re more interested in gianty stompy robot action than in any specific faction, it’s possible to field an All-Dreadnought army list with various flavors of Space Marine (and maybe a bit of Forge World). Carab Culln the Risen is a Special Character HQ choice for the Red Scorpions and a Relic Leviathan Dreadnought; Space Wolves offer you Bjorn the Fell-Handed; and Blood Angels have Librarian Dreadnoughts. Then there’s the dozen or so various types of Elite slot and Heavy Support slot “regular” Dreadnoughts.
  14. Construction is complete and I’m about 1/3 of the way through the initial base coat colors. Probably not going to be the best looking vehicle I’ve ever painted (the printed model’s quality is kinda meh to begin with), but for something that will basically only ever serve as a lump of terrain? I don’t feel the need to exhaust my best efforts on it. But I want to knock out some “quick wins” before I get stuck in on my next batch of Adeptus Custodes. Edit to Add: Lost power during the dozer blade print and I’m wondering if I should just leave it off... Gonna call it “done” for now.
  15. Unfortunately, based on the chatter I’m seeing on Reddit, B&C, and so forth, it looks like the Specialist Detachments from Vigilis Defiant aren’t going to be valid in Ninth Edition; This means the Dread Waagh! is out... So if you want to maximize your Deffdreads, Killa Kans, Gork- and Morkanauts, you’ll need to run them in Spearhead Detachments, which cost 3 CP each. At 2,000 Points, you’re limited to a maximum of three Detachments. I’m just spit-balling here, but I think if you ran a Battalion and a Spearhead, you’d be able to fill all nine Heavy Support slots and “pay the Troops Tax” with good old Boyz. You’d be out the 3 CP for the Spearhead, but 12 CP to start plus one per turn should be enough.
  16. I’m in, with my shiny new Adeptus Custodes.
  17. until

I’m up for either WH40k or MCP.
  18. As I recall, Gorkamorka used essentially the same mechanics as Necromunda First Edition, which was largely just the same thing as Warhammer 40,000 Second Edition... Which would be rather awkward to bolt-on to the current game. These rules have the advantage of being more closely based on the current rule set.
  19. Necromunda doesn’t actually have any rules for vehicles, so this will basically be little more than a custom terrain piece, but I’ve decided to give my Palanite Enforcers a custom ride. ABS from a 3D printer isn’t going to win any prizes for best model, but it should look good enough. My printer is still chugging away on the roof elements now, then I’ll need to add the cupolas and pintle-mounted weapons (I’m thinking a flamer water-cannon). Not sure if I’ll print those elements or just try to scrounge some from a bitz box.
  20. I have found that a base coat of an olive drab green followed by some drybrushing and edge highlighting with Citadel Layer Gauss Blaster Green, followed by a heavy wash of Citadel Shade Biel Tan Green makes an amazing jade. Which it seems like the end result you’re going for with your Necrons, so I thought I’d share.
  21. Found these homebrew rules for adding vehicles to the Underhive, they seem pretty solid to me. Figured I’d share. Necromunda Vehicle Rules v. 3.2
  22. You must now make a Pepsi themed Vendo, that way you can have one for two different rival warbands.
  23. Adeptus Ratcanicus, Cheesestealer Cult, Astra Milirodentia (from Ratachan, naturally), Necromunda... There’s all sorts of possibilities. I’ve seen some very nice conversions using plastic Skaven heads and tails with GSC or IG bodies... Which would probably be the cheapest way to do a large number of rank and file. But toss in a few of these bespoke space rat models, for unit leaders and elite squads... It’d be a great army.
