  1. in Eighth Edition the codices were released in the following order:
  2. Mid-month of October for preorder, two weeks later the book will drop. So that’s an October release for Codex: Space Marines. Mid-month of November for preorder, two weeks later the next book will drop. So that’s an November release for Codex: Necrons. Lather, rinse, repeat.
  3. I’m rounding off the dates a little; Indomitus releases the last week of July and the new codices will probably release the last week of October... Remember, the precious edition came out in June 2017 and the first codices came out in July, August, and September. The average edition has a five year life cycle. We can all just be a little patient, right?
  4. One month seems pretty soon to me.
  5. Several months back, I started working on a table for Frostgrave and other such games that would work on a 3’ x 3’ pseudo-medieval urban table. After much procrastination, I’ve finally started assembly. Here’s a work-in-progress / rough mockup of the board, with a handy Tactical Marine for scale. The general idea is that the “sidewalk” tiles will form a couple of “frames” for 5” x 5” plates (And one big 10” x 10” on in the center) that will have other terrain features built on them. The houses and the ruined tower in the picture are going to be my first “modules.”
  6. And it’s not out yet at all for iPhone users...
  7. Orks should be allowed to soup with Elucidian Starstriders if the Ork Detachment consists entirely of Freebootaz or Bad Moonz. Likewise, Orks should be allowed to soup with Imperial Guard, but only if the Ork Detachment consists entirely of Freebootaz or Blood Axes. Likewise, Ork Detachments consisting solely of Freebootaz should be allowed to soup with Chaos Space Marines, if said spikey boyz were all aligned to Khorne. Both of these alliances are canonical.
  8. WarCry warbands basically boil down into three categories: the nine main Warbands created for the game, Warbands created from a limited pool of models from the other AoS armies, and a handful of “special event” Warbands meant for special scenarios and not for regular play. The “main nine” are all Chaos Undivided worshipers with various themes: Iron Golems, Untamed Beasts, Splintered Fang, Corvus Cabal, The Unmade, Cypher Lords, Spire Tyrants, Scions of Flame, and the Shadowstalkers The “AoS imports” all belong to one of the four Grand Alliances. For Order there are Stormcast Vanguard, Stormcast Warriors, Stormcast Sacrosancts (basically, Fantasy Space Marines); Daughters of Khaine (a.k.a., dark elves), Idoneth Deepkin (a.k.a, sea elves), Kharadron Overlords (a.k.a, steampunk dwarf sky-pirates), Fyreslayers (a.k.a, fire dwarves), Sylvaneth (a.k.a, tree people), Seraphon (a.k.a, lizardmen), and the Lumineth Realm-Lords (a.k.a, high elves). Representing the Death Allegiance you’ve got the Legions of Nagash (a.k.a, generic undead rabble), Nighthaunt (ghosts), Flesh-Eater Courts (ghouls noble questing knights) and the Ossiarch Bonereapers (elite undead). Representing the Destruction Allegiance you’ve got the Ironjawz (a.k.a, elite orcs), Bonesplitterz (a.k.a, savage orcs), Gloomspite Gitz (a.k.a, goblins), and Ogor Mawtribes (a.k.a, ogres) Representing Chaos beyond the basic nine, above, you get the generic Slaves to Darkness (a.k.a, Warriors of Chaos from WHFB), Beasts of Chaos (a.k.a, beastmen), Skaven, and then eight Warbands that are either a mortal or a dæmon group for each of the Four Gods (e.g, Maggotkin of Nurgle Daemons or Blades of Khorne Bloodbound). Ironjawz, obviously, are the best.
  9. B-b-but...! Everyone on the internets said “soup is dead,” “knights are trash,” and “gulliman has been nerfed.” Where do you get off with this nonsense of basing your opinions on actual experience!? Thats not the proper way to play toy soldiers, man!
  10. It’s weird that the Bladeguard Ancient has the keyword Bladeguard Ancient, but the Primaris Ancient has the keywords Primaris, Ancient; the Company Ancient has the keywords Ancient, Company Ancient; and the Chapter Ancient has the keywords Ancient, Chapter Ancient. I think this is probably just an editorial mistake, a result of trying to update the thirty codices, seven codex supplements, and thirteen campaign supplements all on “Day Zero,” rolling out the new edition’s rulebook, and no doubt also trying to get the first two or three codices for the new edition finalized... and during a national lockdown to boot. This will probably be addressed in the next Codex: Space Marines, but for now I guess just roll with it.
  11. They responded to me on Facebook about ten minutes after I posted a question about this. Said they were aware of the issue and working to fix it... and it’s working now. Subscription to the app gives the basic rules, an army builder, and the rules from all Eighth Edition codices... As new codices are released, you’ll have to purchase them. I figure it’s worth $10-15 bucks to try it out for a couple months. If it doesn’t work the way I want it to, meh, that’s one less Large Meat-Lover’s Pizza on my waistline. What I’m hoping for is something that can replace BattleScribe for list-building and unit stat cards for an in-game reference. If it can do both of those things, then I’ll be happy.
  12. I’ve been trying to subscribe to the new app. The sign-up form refuses to accept “Oregon” as a valid option from their drop-down list of State/Province/County options. Looking over their Facebook feed, it seems this is also affecting several Canadian provinces. Did we secede from the Union and no one told me?
  13. Handy 9th Edition Scoring Sheet from Goonhammer.
  14. After 8:30 works great for me... Say 9-ish?
  15. How does Friday look for you?
  16. Added another ten Palanite Enforcers to my precinct, bringing me to a grand total of fifteen Enforcers and six Subjugators. I’m probably gonna pick up a couple of Cyber Mastiffs, but I think I’m pretty much complete gang-wise... One of the upsides of the Enforcers’ extremely limited equipment options compared to other gangs is that I don’t need to have a “deep bench” and can still have every possible option modeled. The totally-not-Judge-Dredd-please-don’t-sue-us special heads are from Puppets War. I’ve got ten of them making my way here from Poland now... But they probably won’t be here until late August. Decided to print out a dozer blade for the Supressor APC after all. I magnetized it, but I’m not sure if I like it or not... Oh well, options are good. I’m also thinking of collecting a smaller second gang (that’s how they always start, isn’t it?) but not sure if I want to go with Goliaths or Delaque...
  17. Do you like flamers, chainswords, and flaming chainswords? Everything else is just minutiae.
  18. The week before I decided, “Yup. Gonna do it. Gonna collect a Custodes army!” there where four boxes of Sisters of Silence on the “clearance rack” at Guardian Games and all my favorite online retailers had them in stock. Two weeks later? Sold out everywhere. D’oh.
  19. Pneumatic tube message delivery system, possibly powered by extremely low-powered air elementals; A “stenography pool” that consists of a single six-armed clockwork “secretary” who operates three typewriters simultaneously; The “warehouse” is just a big, heavy, floor-to-ceiling cabinet that looks something rather like a card catalogue... Each drawer contains a different Portable Hole. Delivery wagon comes in, a goblin grabs the appropriate Portable Hole out of the “warehouse,” unfolds it on the ground, a pair of burly hobgoblins unloads the wagon’s contents into the hole, the goblin folds it back up and returns it back to the “warehouse” cabinet; A room full of clerks, scribes, accountants, and other generic looking office workers... But their desk chairs move around on clockwork crab legs rather than wheels; Desk lamps are miniature Tesla coils, every couple of minutes one or two of them will discharge sending a small and harmless bolt of static electricity “lightning” in a random direction. The jaded office drones ignore it; Adding machines that use individual slips of paper in a stack feed into the back, like a modern typewriter or ink-jet printer. Typewriters that use a spool of paper in a continuous loop, like a real world adding machine; Little old lady who comes ‘round the office between 11:00 and 12:00 with a cart of tea, sandwiches, and small cakes is a Swamp Hag. No one in the office ever comments on this. The cakes are delicious; Lastly, you gotta have an electric traveling arc thingy somewhere. It’s just a fundamental piece of equipment...
