InfestedKerrigan
Next Week: Kill Team – Rogue Trader The wait is nearly over – next week, Kill Team: Rogue Trader is available to pre-order, bringing with it two new kill teams, two new Killzones, a host of missions and two codexes (yes, really!). Kill Team has been an incredible opportunity for our designers and game writers to explore iconic corners of the 41st Millennium that have never been brought to the tabletop before. The Rogue Trader boxed set is an expansion which has something for every kind of Kill Team player, a deep exploration of just what the game can do for you. From a fully fledged campaign to two new factions and Killzones, you can play the set as a self-contained expansion or combine it with any of your existing Kill Team goodies. Kill Team: Rogue Trader has no fewer than 11 new missions for you to try, with new options for open, narrative and matched play. Each is designed to take full advantage of the new Killzones (more on those below) and offers new tactical challenges, not to mention some great thematic hooks. How would a team of Scions fare against a clutch of Lictors in the cramped confines of a shuttle? Can the Word Bearers desecrate an Imperial temple while under attack from a rising force of Necrons? With the new set, you’ll be able to find out. The Rogue Trader set features two kill teams’ worth of magnificent models. In the Elucidian Starstriders, you’ll find Voidsmen-at-Arms – highly paid elite guard of the Rogue Traders – as well as a rogue’s gallery of unusual characters like medic Sanistasia Minst and Death Cult Executioner Knosso Prond, as well as Elucia Vhane herself. These models are recognisably citizens of the Imperium, but represent its elite – Imperial Guardsmen they are not. Each is dressed in elegant, baroque armour and equipped with fine weapons – they’ll need both to survive against the horrors awakening on their ship… The Gellerpox Infected are repugnant enough to please any Nurgle fan. We’ve had new Daemons and Traitor Astartes dedicated to the Lord of Plagues, and now we’ve got a host of repulsive mutants and renegades to join them. Led by the hulking Vulgrar Thrice-Cursed, this kill team looks at the low-level horrors of Nurgle – the skittering beasts, strange breeds of Nurgling and shambling infected who are bursting from starships across the Imperium. You’ll have loads of flexibility when using these kill teams in your games, with both Commanders featuring customisable abilities and skill trees, and a variety of options as to which members you take on your missions. One battle might see you bring a trio of brutish Hullbreakers, while in another you could claim victory with a horde of stinging Cursemites and Sludge-Grubs – and we haven’t even gotten into each kill team’s Tactics! We meant it when we said this expansion was packed with content – it also features two new Killzones for your games! Both are perfect for players looking for a Kill Team board they can travel with, making incredibly effective use of only a handful of terrain pieces and a new set of rules for fighting in ultra-confined spaces. We know fans have been waiting for years to see Rogue Traders in Warhammer 40,000, so we’re making them available for your mass battles as well as your Kill Team skirmishes. The Rogue Trader boxed set features two mini-codexes for allying your Elucidian Starstriders and Gellerpox Infected with your main army, each with their own unique Stratagems (and more than a few devious tricks up their sleeve). Kill Team: Rogue Trader will be available to pre-order on the 8th of September, alongside special dice to match each kill team in the box, with the set hitting shelves near you a week after that. We’ll be previewing the box contents in detail on Warhammer Community throughout next week – so stay tuned. 1

InfestedKerrigan
If I get this box, the way I see it, there is the mini dex, or I have a sexy new quartet of Nurgle Princes. No need to split it. The RTs, just grand models. Hats off, gw
InfestedKerrigan
Kill Team Focus: The Elucidian Starstriders With the imminent arrival of the Rogue Trader expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team, we took it upon ourselves to investigate the Elucidian Starstriders – one of the two factions that are included in the box. Here’s what you need to know: Tasked with pushing the boundaries of Imperial space by none other than Roboute Guilliman himself, Elucia Vhane set forth across the cosmos aboard her starship, the New Dawn. It was when the Rogue Trader drew near to her destination that things started to go wrong. Horribly wrong… Not to worry – her loss is your gain, as Kill Team: Rogue Trader features a new kill team comprising the embattled survivors of the disaster aboard the New Dawn. The Elucidian Starstriders are an eclectic band of heavily-armed and well-equipped naval soldiers and aides-de-camp, led by the Rogue Trader from whom they take their name, Elucia Vhane. The design of the miniatures was driven by concept art produced by none other than legendary artist John Blanche. The Imperial Gothic styling of Elucia Vhane’s uniform clearly bears the hallmark of John’s grim, dark vision of Warhammer 40,000. Rogue Trader dynasties are so powerful that they function more as large corporations, with many different institutional branches and departments. This is represented by the many different icons displayed on the uniforms of the Elucidian Starstriders, which depict their role within the wider infrastructure. Knosso Prond, Larsen van der Grauss and Sanistasia Minst are always Combat, Comms and Medic specialists respectively. However, they don’t count towards your normal limit of specialists! It you want a kill team that that is brimming with specialists, look no further than the Elucidian Starstriders! Between them, the Elucidian Starstriders are equipped with an array of exotic and deadly firearms, from Grell’s rotor cannon and Nitsch’s artificer shotgun to van der Grauss’ voltaic pistol and the heirloom pistol of Elucia Vhane herself. With extensive background stories and individual personalities, the Elucidian Starstriders are like an all-star cast in an action movie – and they’re yours to command! Rogue Traders spare no expense when it comes to personal protection, and Voidsmen-at-arms are amongst the best money can buy. Voidmaster Nitsch is like a hero unto himself, with a profile worthy of a senior officer of the Astra Militarum. His squad all come with BS 3+, providing accurate fire support, not to mention the killing power of Stromian Grell’s rotor cannon (which fires 4 shots at Damage 2!). Oh, and don’t forget their swift and loyal canid, Aximillion! Elucia Vhane is accompanied by an inner circle of highly skilled retainers: the Death Cult Executioner Knosso Prond, the eccentric Lectro-Maester Larsen van der Grauss, and her Rejuvenat Adept, Sanistasia Minst. Their unique wargear and abilities offer the Elucidian Starstriders three distinct advantages with their deadly combat prowess, the protection of a Voltagheist Array and Healing Serum respectively. The beating heart of the Eludician Starstriders is of course the Rogue Trader herself. Elucia Vhane hails from a different class to her subordinates in that she is a Commander, complete with a vastly superior profile and access to a previously unseen specialism – Strategist. Not only that, but she can be upgraded to levels 2, 3 or 4 right from the start, and can be further augmented by traits such as Trader Militant, which grants her +1 Attack. Elucia Vhane is a skilled combatant, equally at home sharpshooting with her heirloom duelling pistol as she is cutting down those that dare stand in her way with her trusty monomolecular cane-rapier, Blur. One of her greatest assets is the ability to use her Multi-spectral Auspicator Tactic, which enables you to re-roll hit rolls of 1 for any Elucidian Starstrider models within 6” of her for the duration of the battle round. As one might expect from an elite band of survivors, the Elucidian Starstriders have a number of useful Tactics up their (immaculately cut) sleeves. Turn Knosso Prond into a living engine of destruction by increasing the Damage of her power blade to D3. That should cut any problem you have down to size… If need is dire, use this tactic to enable Sanistasia Minst to apply her Healing Serum twice, potentially patching up two flesh wounds! This is a great tactic to use for some additional staying power if you’re up against it (or to try and avoid a potentially disastrous roll on the Casualty table). Dug-in enemy shooters causing you problems? Use this tactic for a +3 bonus on Voidmaster Nitch’s hit roll which, if it hits, inflicts a mortal wound on the target! It costs 2 Command Points, but can really help to get you out of a tight spot. The Elucidian Starstriders are available in the Kill Team: Rogue Trader box, which is up for pre-order from this weekend. Keep your eyes open for more information, including a Faction Focus on the Gellerpox Infected, which is coming your way tomorrow.
WestRider
The more I see of these, the more I like them. Minst is my favourite human-sized* Model to come out of GW since I don't know when. Aximillion and Nitsch are up there, too. *Sorry, Sanistasia, the Armiger Helverins are still cooler 😉
Nathanvoodoo
I’ve been sold on this since they teased it months ago- After maybe 10 games of kill team I’m not really very in love with it, but this box set will be mine for those spectacular models either way.

InfestedKerrigan
Kill Team: Rogue Trader – Two New Codexes! We know loads of you have been waiting ages to get your hands on a real, honest-to-goodness plastic Rogue Trader, while others crave an even broader menagerie of mutants – and it’d be a shame to not bring such magnificent models to your regular games of Warhammer 40,000. Well, good news! Kill Team: Rogue Trader features two mini-codexes that let you use ALL the models from the set in your regular games: Each of the mini-codexes in the set contains a specialised Detachment for that faction, representing the forces in the Rogue Trader boxed set, complete with characters, Detachment rules and a set of Stratagems for you to use. You’ll also find points for using them in matched play. Rather than being codexes for Rogue Traders in general or Nurgle mutants, these books have been designed to provide you with two focused, thematic allies for a larger force. Got some Death Guard? You can never have too many horrific Nurgle mutants! Need to add some aristocratic flair to your Astra Militarum? Hire the Elucidian Starstriders! As an Imperium army, you’ll be able to squeeze the Elucidian Starstriders into anything from the Adeptus Custodes to the Space Marines or even the Adeptus Mechanicus. They’ve even got a rule that lets you put them in ANY Imperium transport – normal restrictions notwithstanding: On the tabletop, the Elucidian Starstriders consist of a nifty selection of characters plus Nitsch’s Squad – an elite unit that offers you some additional fire support. This is also your best opportunity to add a dog to your army – other than allying with the Space Wolves… 13/10 Best Pupper Nitsch’s Squad is surprisingly potent little unit, capable of kicking out some respectable firepower to anyone who dares get close. Between the artificer shotgun and the rotor cannon, you’ll make short work of Terminators and other tougher infantry – at 36 points for the whole unit (yes, really!) they’re a steal. Having looked at the superhuman shock troops of the Plague God with the Death Guard, and the Grandfather’s supernatural servants with this year’s deluge of new Daemons, the Gellerpox Infected are your chance to build the third piece of the tri-lobe – the serried hordes of mutated mortals and swollen vermin who fight for Nurgle. As you’d expect, the Gellerpox Infected serve Chaos, and are great allies for any Nurgle army, looking just as magnificently malignant as any Death Guard or Nurgle Daemon as well as sharing the Nurgle keyword, making them immune to any Nurgle’s Rot-related friendly fire. In-game, the Gellerpox Infected are great at tearing apart heavy infantry with Vulgrar Thrice-Cursed and the Hullbreakers, who boast a deluge of armour-shredding, high-damage attacks. Meanwhile, your various mites, grubs, Nurglings and mutants cost a pittance in points and are great for bogging down pesky opponents or holding objectives while more valuable units get stuck in with some good old-fashioned murder. You’ll find both these codexes included in the Rogue Trader boxed set, available this weekend! If you’re curious about how these Factions play in Kill Team, don’t miss our last two Kill Team focuses, while if you’re looking to learn more about the set itself, tune in tomorrow for a closer look at the killzones…

WestRider
OK, so looks like these are going to be basically like the Formations from WD that introduced the stuff from DW: Overkill into 40K. Hopefully they follow a similar path to actual Codices soon. 4 hours ago, InfestedKerrigan said: 13/10 Best Pupper Nitsch’s Squad is surprisingly potent little unit, capable of kicking out some respectable firepower to anyone who dares get close. Two things here: Yes, they are D2. But at these Strengths and APs and RoF, they ain't doing jack to Terminators without working at it for a long time, or getting incredibly lucky. I don't see how Aximillion not counting for Morale Tests squares with the 13/10 Best Pupper thing. That should be like a -3 on the Morale Test, or maybe even an automatic fail.

Sgt. Rock
Am I the only one that noticed that Aximillion doesn't have a weapon profile? He's got a WS and attacks profile, but it doesn't say what he's swinging with. I mean, I imagine it's probably just something like strength user 0 AP damage 1, but still, would be nice to know.
