I suppose your thoughts on ITC are going to have to be determined by what you as a player are trying to get out of the game. I am a lore based player. I like to set up terrain in order to tell a story. My army rosters are designed to represent how I think my DIY chapter would go to war. I like to try and play out a storyline on the table. For me, it really is about forging a narrative. Does ITC add to this? No. Does ITC take away from this? No. Does ITC create a balanced tournament? Maybe. Does ITC create a fun tournament? Maybe. Coming from Warmachine, I have had A LOT of tournament experience. PP spends a lot of time playtesting and balancing their rules for new models, and erratas older rules to ensure balance. But the key is that there is A LOT of playtesting. Does ITC spend the 100+ hours of table time per change in order to ensure that balance is maintained? Maybe. I don't know. If they do, and these are the decisions that are made then I will give them kudos. If not, and they are more knee-jerk in nature, then not so many kudos. Again, I don't know, so I won't pass judgement. But again, it is always going to come down to why you, as an individual, are playing the game. So for me, as an individual, ITC does not work. But that is O.K. I am not their target audience.

Anyone doing the international gamermancy campaign?
Sugarlessllama replied to Lord Fue Fue's topic in Warhammer 40,000
Actually, we have a pretty group participating in the Gamermancy campaign. We have been playing every Monday at Red Castle, and have about 2-3 games going at a time. In fact this week we had more players than tables, and one of the campaign administrators was in town to play us. It was super awesome! We even went out for beers after. So if you are interested in playing with us, the more the merrier! Hit me up, and I can get you invited to the Facebook group that we have been using to organize the Portland side of things. :D -
Hey hey! I was wondering (and please don't think I am trolling, because I am not) if someone could explain the title of the thread? Is it that you would like to purchase new Forgeworld models because you have extra money?

What will we, 40K do, when the AoS Comes?
Sugarlessllama replied to andozane's topic in Warhammer 40,000
What will I do as a 40K player. Most likely, nothing. The lack of points and such only effects tournament players to any significant degree. My narrative style of gaming would only be effected in that it would simplify my list building. For competitive gaming I will still stay with my true love: Warmachine. I think this is actually a great time to be a miniwargamer. You have plenty of narrative games to choose from, and tournament balanced games to scratch that competitive itch. -
National 40K Narrative Campaign
Sugarlessllama replied to Sugarlessllama's topic in Warhammer 40,000
So the modified allies chart is under "factions". When you pick a faction, you can only ally with codices that are in your faction. Example: Since my Space Marines are Ordo Xenos, they cannot ally with Sister of Battle because they are only represented in Ordo Hereticus. Additionally, I can't ally with a Space Marine player who is representing Ordo Hereticus or Ordo Malleus. According to the custom heroes rules, it looks like they can take relic wargear. They just can't be named heroes. I think the local game master is for the players in South Florida where this game club is located. -

National 40K Narrative Campaign
Sugarlessllama replied to Sugarlessllama's topic in Warhammer 40,000
Now that the start date is getting a bit closer, I thought I would ping everyone again to see if there is interest in joining. I'm asking because I would like to try an organize some kind of kick off event; the campaign organizers themselves suggest 5,000 point 2 v 2 or 3 v 3 games (5,000 point per side split among 2 or 3 players.). I thought it might be fun, and shouldn't be too difficult to throw together. :) -
Warhammer World...I've been there and got the T-shirt!

Man, I need to get back over to the UK. Thanks for the photo dump! It's awesome to get some more images from those sweet looking dioramas. -

National 40K Narrative Campaign

Right now the site is down. They posted onto their FB page that they are working on it. :( -
Hey hey lovely people! Someone in the local community here in Portland turned me onto this event. It is a 40K narrative campaign that is set to begin on August 1st! It is a pretty neat campaign set to play out of 12 weeks. There are five factions with various motives struggling over a planetary system. Overall, it is a pretty neat concept and they seem to have their poop together when it comes to the nuts and bolts of running this type of campaign. More information can be found here: http://www.gamermancy.com/the-inquisition-war-intro.html I am planning on participating, and thought I would bring mention is here in case other people are interested in playing as well.

Impressions after 1st game of AoS
Sugarlessllama replied to ClassicFlava's topic in Warhammer Age of Sigmar
I got a chance on Saturday to play the new game with the starter set models. I actually had a ton of fun! I used the chaos models, and thought that they had a lot of synergy. I think they are going to mesh very well with both the Warriors of Chaos, as well as Daemons of Chaos. I can see a lot of Chaos players picking up the starter set in order to get access of those models. I am actually really looking forward to getting more games in using my Hammers of Sigmar. :D -
Remaining in the Old World - Pure Fluff
Sugarlessllama replied to splinx's topic in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)
Maybe the dwarfs fall back to a one of the capital cities and reinforces it into a final bastion. A super fortress city, where the living forces of not chaos can muster, and resupply. The dwarfs may not have the numbers to take the field, but are more than enough to hold back the hordes of chaos. -
Focus on 8th edition
Sugarlessllama replied to bkieft's topic in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)
I really like 8th edition. I will most likely keep playing it with my dwarfs. There are a ton of the little guys that still need to be painted. Plus there are some additional units I would like to add. Eventually I would like to field a 10 x 10 block of warriors. :D -

I think it would be a good place to start a new 8th Edition narrative map campaign. :D -
I'm sure he'll regret that later...
Sugarlessllama replied to pretre's topic in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)
What a schmuck. Plus his rant was all kinds of silly and hateful. I wonder how he has so much time to be angry all the damn time. -
I think the above interpretation is correct. But from my understanding, all units that are part of the demi-company are ObSec. Which would mean, the IC in question would have to join a unit that is outside of the demi-company in order to lose it. So if the IC joined a unit of terminators, then yes I think they would indeed lose ObSec while attached to said unit.

I like most of the stuff they put up as well. :D
-
I really liked 8th. I'll mostly keep playing it... sans The End Times. I was not a fan of The End Times stuff. Some of the models were neat, but the magic phase became the only phase. And as a dwarf player I spent too long watching End Times magic, and not participating in it. No bueno. But 8th on its own, was a great game that I will continue to play. I mean, why should I stop using that brick of a book I spent a $100 on?
-
I'm looking forward to playing with the new rules. However, it is very likely that my Dwarfs will remain an 8th edition army. Mostly because I am using the new edition as a chance to start a new faction; the new models are awesome looking!
-
Additionally, you can just continue to use the 8th edition rules.
-
The game isn't even out a week and you're trying to "fix it"? smh Seriously, how about just trying the new rules for a while and see how you like them? By which I mean, go out and about to play. If you only play the game with the same group of grumpy people, dislike of the rules becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I had the same issue when Warmachine went from MK1 to MK2. It wasn't until I started playing with different people did I start to fairly evaluate the system. Just a thought.
-
You know, you could look at this as an opportunity. Just stick with 8th, and enjoy having a complete final rules system. Additionally, you can just focus on completing your collection of models for WHFB. I think you're in a great space to do it. :D

Meh, Crud. Mumble. Grrrr.
Sugarlessllama replied to Raindog's topic in Fantasy Battles (9th Age, WFB, etc.)
I'm really looking forward to the new game. While I love my dwarfs, The End Times killed 8th edition WFB for me. I didn't like the crazy magic at all. However, this new system is pretty neat, and I like the look of the new Sigmar faction. So much so, that I have already split a starter set with someone. I'm really looking forward to giving the new rules a try. :D -
Will you be buying the AoS boxed set?
Sugarlessllama replied to dkieft's topic in Warhammer Age of Sigmar
They have a display of the new models at the GW store in Eastport PLaza here in Portland. They are not snapfit. They are closer to the new Skitarii models, and that they have a low number of bits per model. As for me, I already pre-ordered so I suppose that would put be firmly in the "yes" camp.
