  1. It also seems like they took away steadfast and added a bunch of other garbage rules to account for steadfast, which would be gone in their rule set. No horde formation bonus. Hit table has changed slightly. Only meaningful change is that WS3 hits WS10 on 6s, and WS10 hits WS4 on 2s. Large target adds +1. Fatigue: after 3 rounds of combat, a unit suffers -1 Strength until the combat is over. Wound table is slightly different. Instead of 6 always wounding, some higher toughness values need 7s or 8s to wound. Maximum unit sizes. At 2500, Base troops can have at most 50 models, Light and Heavy can have 15, and Elite can have 25. There are special rules that circumvent this (e.g. Skaven). And if they add in unit Minimums like they have on Giant Rats, what is the point of bringing lesser troops? They will simply get slaughtered in combat and need snakes to stay every time. The damage output that crept in after the Skaven book validated the Steadfast rule. I cannot believe the community has an issue with it. If we remove steadfast, remove stomps and thunder-stomps as its the hard counter to infantry.
  2. But they arent taking into consideration the proximity of slaves to the leadership bubble. Slaves are only the tarpits they are if they are within range of LD. Easier said than done, honestly.
  3. No steadfast... LAME I would never play this, my Skaven army simply would not survive supporting attacks without the steadfast rule. Infantry is pretty much useless without it. The ability of monsters and cavalry to do wounds and mitigate S3 attacks will be the death of certain army builds. Why bring a large block of goblins, humans, rats if they cant hold a charge? Taking away steadfast is a HUGE mistake.
  4. @ AgentP, So you believe that the sudden death option is enough to balance the game? Or do you like the other, "unofficial", comp that broke the force into 5 scrolls for 25 wounds with limits on monsters, heros, and wms? I have played 2 games so far and need like 50 more to really make up my mind about army points and balance, I do really like the game though.
  5. So Incredibly radical. Looking forward to our battle tomorrow night! YOur army will be a good matchup for mine, 2 large blocks of 25mm, T4 infantry and GRIMGOR are going to give me hell, I cant wait to see what I can do against it.
  6. I have most of the new plastics and really like them.... I think this whole thing will come full circle with an excellent story line. Slaanesh will need to regain its power and will through the death of many mortals. Could be a good catalyst for a war within the pantheon chaos. Does one of the other three gods side with Slaanesh as a divide and conquer strategy? The possible story line seems compelling, Id refrain from assuming the'yre gone for good.
  7. I did cast it on your corsairs, didnt bounce, it only bounces on a 5+ and a 1 hits one of mine,I rolled a 4.
  8. Yeah, I certainly got a good laugh out of that video of Hitler going off... I especially liked when he told the 40k guys to leave and more than half the room left. HAHA. Good [big bad swear word] internet..... good [big bad swear word]....
  9. Funny, that's everything I liked about 8th. 7th was way too cagey of a game and heavy cavalry should never be that good. No stepping up, no steadfast, no extra ranks of attacks means that infantry get completely destroyed by cav, monsters, or anything "fast". I feel like any rules that make infantry better should be welcomed, infantry should be able to take a charge and have a chance to stick around without having to be stubborn. 40 orcs should be able to take a charge from 5 chaos knights and have a "chance" of holding. In 7th... fat chance. Anyone remember the annoyance of scroll caddies in 7th!? So glad that is gone.
  10. Haha!! We did HE vs WoC yesterday. Had great fun. Magic leaves something to be desired, BUT the heroes and their command abilities really make the game interesting. Im with you OrkDork, it DOES have potential as a stand alone Warhammermachinehordes type game.
  11. Sam and Tim, great thoughts, couldnt agree with you guys more. I had a great time throwing dice and testing out the new game. It is that, a new game. There is NO WAY this is replacing WHFBs for me and I feel that is the same for most. Hopefully most wont jump ship and will realize that there is still a strong community of WHFB players that will still throw down with the old rules. I certainly will and continue to support events that want to keep WHFB alive. 8th edition has been the best edition yet and with a few tweaks, it could really be the masterpiece it was destined to be, too bad GW didnt see it that way and decided to go a different route. I will treat AoS and WHFB as two completely different games that use the same models, I will play both, depending on how they are supported. In our community, I dont see AoS having any events or tournaments anytime soon though. Looking forward to the OFCC.
  12. @MN, 50 maybe, but I was and am considering Skaven and O&G in the case Sam brings that. I think a Skaven army will be over 50 easily.
  13. @NTK and Peanut, I will certainly do so. I hope to get a few games in, 3-4 depending on how long they take. Im assuming not long if we go with a 100 model cap. Sam, Tim, look forward to seeing you guys there. Hope we can muster a few more!
  14. John gets me. Everyone has an opinion on everything, its the tact in expressing those opinions that can make all the difference. I will share mine as soon as I have a chance to throw some dice with my friends over the weekend, maybe offer some ideas or strategies. Talk pros and cons, not just emotionally guess as to whats going to happen or what its going to be like. Everyone poo pooed end times magic on paper, but when the dice started rolling I found it to be a fun and tactical challenge and would play those rules exclusively. Most wouldnt even give it a chance and its a shame because it was FUN. ....Just tired of all the complaining.
  15. An INFORMED opinion and [big bad swear word]ting out your mouth are two completely different things...
  16. Or you can have rule books for each army that cost $55 a piece. If its about the money you chose the wrong hobby...
  17. Lets go to Mythic Realm and meet when they open at 11am, play until like 3 or 4. I will be bringing Elves.
  18. Hey, With the war scrolls dropping Friday night I would like to get a good day of play testing in on the 4th if anyone is interested. Im sure we all have parties and events planned but I have time during the day up until about 5pm if anyone wants to get together at Dice Age, Mythic Realms, or even my place. Who's down!? We have a lot to learn and play test, perhaps its not so bad. We will only know once we start playing.
  19. Im totally battleshocked right now.
  20. Im with NTK that this is not 9th ed. My thought is that they will introduce a larger scale version of their new system to allow for a more elaborate and complex game that takes the 2.5-3 hours to play like we are used to. AoS looks to be a skirmish game that maybe takes an hour to complete. This will be a great starting point for incorporating a larger rule set as time goes on, its actually a more feasible business model in the long term, IMO. They needed a distinction between point values in games to make it appropriate to play exclusively at a lower point level while not taking away from the depth of the larger game. When they are called two different things, you cant say that. You'd hear folks say "Warhammer at 1000pts is NOT Warhammer." Now you can say, "playing AoS" Warhammer did not scale well and low point cost tournaments were rare and full of players with larger forces anyway. Having support of events and tournaments for a specified lower point value, all the time, will keep a pooled player base in AoS. This will, hopefully, gradually graduate players to the higher level more consistently than people taking a $400 plunge all at once. Also, in the smaller skirmish level you see people collect more diverse kits. You will need 1000pts to play it, then you'll have 1000pts of a broader array of products keeping the sales more consistent across. In WH you almost have to dedicate yourself to a race or two, thats all you buy. I can imagine some people having a small force of everything for AoS and that means sales across the entire line. Id like to be able to dabble in undead or Lizards and in AoS I wont need much to give them a shot and see if I would go any further. From some of the pics of mixed bases it seems that AoS forces can be added to a larger WH force to complete an entire army. This is why we have been seeing imagery of mixed bases with Lizards and Skaven for example. **Hopefully!! Ive been on the GW ride with WHFB for a long time and will continue my journey. Its the only game I play with dice and tape and is wholly due to nostalgia, good friends, and an appreciation for the dark creativity of their (GW) ways. Call me what you want, I appreciate a little mystery in life especially in something as fickle as a game I play in my fun times. Ive seen a lot of horribly negative posts all over the internet about this. Its really something. A telling social experiment of the ability to be patient, trust, and keep a positive mindset, no matter what. A lot of negative nancys. Sigmarites are ugly, hope to slay many in the future.
  21. All of those kits seem to be prior to laser cut plastics. Im sure they want their entire line at that level eventually, gotta pull the old kits sometime.
  22. Hahaha! This game is going to be great. It's merely weeks away. Thinking of switching over to Elves and giving the rats a rest for a bit.
