  1. This is a solid VC list. I like the big units of skellies, they will give you staying power and keep you in most games long term. I like that you have 7 levels of magic meaning you "could" have every spell in every game at your disposal, thats invaluable with VC, gotta have options in the magic phase. The Vargheists, hexwraiths, and terrorgheist will support those blocks perfectly. Is this your first WH army?
  2. My opinion of Chaos Dwarfs is that they fill the "exclusivity" niche of Warhammer, some people just need that. Obscure army list and super expensive models from a specialty provider, this fits the criteria. Cool fluff, cool army, I do wish GW would just support them, but they dont. The Kdaai destroyer is retarded.
  3. All about the warshrine also. T5 W5 and 4+ ward is a great addition and could fit the theme of your biomech force.
  4. Thank you sir! Much appreciated. ^^^^^^^
  5. Id really like to know what the WHFB lots are. Im looking for some classic/older Skaven, O&G, and WoC models. Let me know. Thanks
  6. -Hesitate so that they can move around you and threaten flanks. -Dont dispel magic missiles, save those Dice for the dreaded 13th. -Dont charge slaves, they are an endless tar-pit, shoot and magic them. -Let Doomwheels out-flank you, theyre pure garbage in CC. -SIt back and let them shoot you (or themselves) to death. ........
  7. If you build it, they will come. I have certainly been making it a point to go to tournaments when they are scheduled. I obviously cant make them all but Ive made a conscious effort to participate when I can; its what this hobby is all about. I also think that making tournaments fully painted is a big deal too as I am a big fan of the aesthetic . One thing that will stop me from going to a tournament is the option to bring a non-painted army or proxies. Just sayin'
  8. I support all game stores, whoever has what I want in stock, gets my business. Guardian had a copy of Glottkin the other day, I bought it. Many stores support the OFCC every year. Mythic Realms has incredible tables to play on and a friendly staff, Guardian serves beer, (enough said) and Dice Age is a nice little local store, I dont think we need to "go there" on which store to "support". Any store that stocks WHFB is deserving.
  9. I hope to get a game in tonight, be there at 5!
  10. Come down to DIce Age games in Vancouver on Saturday. Ill be there at 5pm looking for a game. 2500 pts.
  11. ill be there around 530-6p looking for a game, I hope others are planning on attending, Ive been looking forward to it. Bringing 2500 Skaven.
  12. a vamp in a unit of zombies would all be individual models. A rider mounted on a monster is a single model, it has a single base.
  13. Really an excellent game MN. Kind of the opposite of our last game in regards to the shooting phase. my first turn saw my WLC kill 4 of my own rat ogres only to blow up on turn two. I also lost 30 clanrats, a lv2, ratling gun, warpfire thrower, and my jezzails in the bottom of turn 1. Not a good start at all. I still had my other 3 characters, an abom, gutter runners, and a bunch of slaves/ clanrats left, so the game wasnt all lost, It was time to get stingy. We ground it out for the entire 6 turns to a likely minor win for the DE. THe scenario didnt make much of a difference as our scoring units were either gone or contested. We only had units on 2 quadrants of the battle field and they were all in close proximity. The only reason I would draw this game is the comp difference which would have given me 400 extra points. It just nice to see how difficult it is to completely annihilate an army with a really good start. Like I said the exact opposite happened in our last game where my shooting killed your hydra and cold one chariot and you had fleeing Dark riders due to failed panic tests on the first turn. An excellent couple of games, cant wait to see what happens the next time Skaven meet Dark Elves. Thanks MexicanNinja.
  14. Death or Nurgle. Archaon is certainly fun, run him at times, but not always. Id want a list to look something like this, Lv4 Nurgle kit BSB Khorne kit Lv2 Nurgle kit -20 Warriors, Khorne, FC x2hw -20 Warriors, Nurgle, FC GW------ gives you a S6 option in the army. -5 dogs -5 dogs -5 dogs vanguard -5 dogs vanguard -Chariots------------------------these will help out a ton. -5 knights, khorne, fc -Hell cannon
  15. @ Iraf, Good call. My experience with my Chaos and all the single MC characters I took in infantry based lists, I had no ward saves then, and honestly didnt suffer all that much. Except that money shot you had @ the OFCC Open against my BSB, that was awesome. It is terribly possible the Warlord will be on his own and hiding behind stuff if I see a lot of shooting across from me.
  16. So with the Slamwich coming up and lists due tomorrow, Ive paid my way and turned in my list. With a high comp score and in game bonuses, Im going to force my opponent to come to me, I feel like this list is certainly capable of being consistent in a Swedish Comp environment. This is similar to many Skaven lists Ive played in the past minus the Grey Seer. This is an attempt to go back to my 7th edition ways where I typically spent less than 500 points on characters and just lead from the rear. As that is not so much an option anymore with the new book Id gone a different direction and brought the Seer all throughout 8th edition. Swedish Comp is now the norm and the hit you take from a Seer is enough for me to seek a simplified magic phase brought from a couple of engineers. Im looking forward to streamlining my magic phase back to magic missiles and target elimination while mopping up remaining wounds in the shooting phase. Hopefully between 2 Level 2s I can roll up Scorch and then have 2 Warp lightings and the fireball ring, its possible to have all 4 go off in a phase. It's awfully typical and hard to defend against if my dice cooperate. I certainly lack in close combat, but by being careful where I put my abom and ratogre/general I will have at least a few lanes locked down. And, with the direct magic and shooting Ill have the more serious threats at (hopefully) manageable levels. Slaves for tar-pitting and clanrats for some shotty mop up, hopefully I can compete. Let me know what you all think. Generic, -7 Dispel Scroll -3 Warp Energy Condenser Lords, (-9) Warlord, Shield, Bone-breaker, Blade of Corruption, Warpstone armor, Dawnstone Heroes, (-12) Chieftan, BsB, Charmed Shield (-23) Warlock Engineer, Pistol, Doomrocket, Warp Energy Condenser (-8) Warlock Engineer, Pistol, Dispel Scroll, Ruby Ring Core, (-6) 30 Clanrats, Shields, Full Command, Warp-fire thrower (-5) 30 Clanrats, Shields, Full Command, Ratling Gun (-5) 30 Clanrats, Shields, Full Command, Ratling Gun (-7) 40 Slaves (-7) 40 Slaves (-2) 10 Giant Rat Pack, (1) Pack Master, (9) Giant rats Special, (-5) 10 Jezzails, Sharp-shooter (-11) 8 Gutter Runners, Poisoned attacks, Slings (-9) 11 Rat Ogre Pack, (4) Pack Masters, (7) Rat Ogres w/ Champion Rare, (-38) Hell-pit Abomination, Warpstone Spikes (-20) Warp-lightning Cannon Total: 2500 Points/ Swedish Comp: 11.9=>12
  17. Yeah, I hear that there are way more choices, but the effect is essentially the same. I feel like the 50/50 lords/heroes is more the problem. I just think its silly to act like the sky is falling though, its not like chaos players are getting anymore points than anyone else. As for power level of the books/armies, I still believe its the player and their understanding of the game. MN I have no doubt that you could play any army to max effect if you wanted to because of your knowledge of this game. People play what they like, when it comes to the army they choose, not whats "best"... on paper.... Its just too expensive and time consuming, especially if you are actually painting your armies.
  18. The Fell Blade and Weeping blades are THE signature magic weapons in the Skaven book. The Fell Blade was built to destroy Nagash; its simply central to the storyline of the Warhammer world. It will stay and still cost 100 points. Love the list Rudra, Id like to see the raiders marked nurgle, as I assume you are using the nurglings. Plus w/10 they'll be more of a nuisance to support troops in CC. I understand thats a lot of points tho. Im embracing the combination, obviously, as you will see a good mix of Slaanesh/Tzeench/Nurgle coming from my collection.
  19. This is just going back to the old ways. This is how Chaos operated before the current edition, no body even thought it was a thing. I think this will be embraced as much as the undead unification.
  20. Sacrilege!! HAHA, NEVER!! Just sayin', in fantasy, we have nothing to complain about. :)
  21. Looks like fun!! And, Chaos players dont complain.
  22. Makes them completely non target for 3 turns as well, meaning cant me shot at or magic'd. They come into the game behind or beside the advance, IDK why people DONT use this unit. I think this is completely viable for a single unit of 4 w/FC. If the strategy is to sit back with magic, shooting, and undead point denial.
  23. For 117pts... Id be all over it. Being cold blooded, M6, and double threat, its brilliant. Id go full command just for the musician for combat reforms and a champ to absorb a challenge to hold up a solo/flying character for a turn. Keep poison off in HTH and just shoot and stand and shoot, you dont ever really need to charge with the unit if you can maneuver to block or get into a flanking position to set up another unit charging. Solid chaff elimination unit.
  24. Even in regards to the character discussion. The ability for an army to ignore the option to go 50% on heroes and lords and just bring a [big bad swear word]TON of guys is not a bad strategy. I feel like the answer to really powerful characters is a block of steadfast infantry that can just step up and chip a wound here or there or even win combat by simply having static rez or a musician. One death star littered with characters vs 4 healthy sized combat blocks... Id put my money on the player with the horde. It also lends to the narrative when a group of characters go up against a horde of enemies within the standard rules of the game. The BIG main rule book has a scenario where characters are pitted against an army in a "last stand" kind of thing. I think this rule change just allows that to be more of an option all the time. Im happy to see the new challenge, but it will not change anything I do when it comes to writing up a list. Ive always been drawn to troops and horde armies anyway, I never feel confident in a list that has the character slots maxed, even when they were 25%/25%.
