Prophecy
I love the one with the skull. You are doing an awesome job. The conversions are slick.
nathonicus
I stopped by the thrift store today and picked up a handful of cars. I also got you a little present, Sherbert, that hopefully will be useful in making a War Rig.
Sherbert
woot woot, I did find some wheels that I was planning on using on the war rig and other larger cars. They need to be shipped from England though... also I think I was wrong in the scale for crew. Diecast models are 1/64 scale so 1/72 scale might be small. Wiccus
You should also check out Finders Keepers next to DT. They have a 50 cent bin full of hotwheels.
Sherbert
Yeah, I stopped by the other day and picked up another batch of cars for $4. great prices and they are new. ChaosGerbil
Hmmm, not sure whether to curse you or thank you... I caught the bug. You just hijacked all my other modeling projects. My toddler is now into Hotwheels / Matchbox cars, and I just gave him my old cars from when I was a boy, and we got free ones from family so there is a good selection. I also have some cars coming off Ebay. FYI Hotwheels are usually $1 new at a lot of places, unless you are going for a movie tie in one and then they are $4. So fr I have five cars with guns and little other work done, and several more waiting to be started. I'll post some pics once I complete some conversions. I doubt I'll ever get to play, but I have always loved post-apoc and Mad Max, and the new MM movie was incredibly good. Thanks Sherbert, for all the ideas and cool pictures.
ChaosGerbil
Sweet I have a dozen cars close to modeling completion. Stay tuned. Hint: More dakka
Sherbert
Chaos- noice, looking forward to seeing what you come up with. If your looking for more inspiration try searching for car war conversions. I found a bunch of stuff that really helped. I had a bit of a snafu with my clear coat. I accidentally bought a gloss clear coat instead of dullcoat because the packaging is almost exactly the same. So I ran out and grabbed some more and resprayed the shiny models and built a couple more. there is still a little shine but its a lot better. This will be my last big update for awhile. My GF gets back tonight after traveling for 10 weeks and at the end of the month I leave to Europe for a month. I might be able to get a little more work done but ill be spending a lot of time with the gf before I leave so dont expect much for awhile. Thanks for the comments as always.

ChaosGerbil
Sorry, still no pics yet but I have an update. I have over 20 cars finished, although I will probably go back and add extra rivets, blades, armor, and bits to them. So I got this from a facebook group called Post Apocalypse Game Cars, someone took 1/72 scale Native Americans and converted them to War Boys. I got some myself on Ebay, and shaved several bald with a razor blade. Here's what the box looks like:
ChaosGerbil
Inspiration...Anyone have strong opinions on how many guns to mount? I noticed the majority of Sherbert's had no firearms, almost all of mine do. I'm also magnetizing some hardpoints just for fun. I'll try and take pictures tomorrow. Torg
If your wanting to play a game with them - we had been experimenting with the "Warlands" rules - which would help to narrow down choices of hard points. But I am sure WYSIWYYG isn't being strictly adhered to. -d
Torg
I've started to look into the Dark Future (GW) rules - old but I found them online… scan. Anyone else try these? -d
Torg
more rules I have dug up in my push to start doing something with these ideas and car battles… http://futurehighways.roll2dice.com/articles/tenfour_01.html All this is based on the Dark Future game rules from GW... -d
InfestedKerrigan
Do the Rulesets you guys play with allow for something like a Shriner Car? Maybe Grots in Micro Machines?

ChaosGerbil
Rawr, I killed another thread. Your silence is deafening. It says, "Chaosgerbil, those cars are just alright. They need more armor plates, more comically oversized rivets, more battering rams, more spikes, more crew. More FLAIR." Fine, I'm working on it!Also, I found some Hot Wheels that are already armored and have weapons. I can post a list of the ones I bought on ebay, each under $2.

Sherbert
hey guys, sorry for in inactivity. I had some passport problems appear this weak and it took several days of being in Seattle to deal with, (I live in Bellingham) but its all resolved and im set to leave this monday. ChaosGerbil- your stuff looks great, its awesome to see some other people building toy cars.My main suggestion is to watch out for scale of weapons. I found that most 40k weapons are way too big for hotwheel scale except for the smaller guns like lasguns and stubbers. I would suggest getting some different sized plastic tubing to make some guns that fit properly on the vehicles. Otherwise the ramshackleness of your vehicles is great. Torg- im still waiting to see some more of your stuff. I expect some updates by the time I get back.
