I've got 5 kids to feed!

You need to pick a hobby. 40k and having kids are both heavy time and money demanding hobbies. Agree with AP, IF you traded or sold off the kid hobby, you'd have much more time and money for 40k.

Okay, I am happy to report that all 5 Goliaths are completely assembled.

In addition, I also assembled the Acolyte Iconward and all* of the Aberrants from the Overkill sets.

Why the asterisk? Well, it seems that one of the Aberrant head went missing. So, I will have to figure something out if I am ever crazy enough to field 12 of them at one time. :)

Moar Neophytes!

I buckled down and finished the last 20 Neophytes from the Overkill sets

To date (not counting the vehicles), I have a growing pile of models calling for paint:

Now, it is on to the remaining Acolytes from Overkill. It looks like I have 30 more to build.

Once that is done, I still have 45 more models in boxes waiting in the wings.

The one task I still need to tackle with the assembled models prior to paint, is to drill out the weapons.

Some people reading this may not think model assembly is not terribly difficult or time consuming. I am pretty fanatical about model clean up and assembly, and my process takes several steps.

  1. Clip model from sprue, being careful not to deform or break the components
  2. Clean up the sprue attachement area with clippers (if needed)
  3. Rough file the attachment points
  4. Scrape all mold line accessible by blade
  5. Fine file remaining areas previously not cleaned up
  6. Buff out scratches and rough file work (if needed)
  7. Blow off / Brush away debris for final inspection (if needed)
  8. Drill out weapon barrels
  9. Dry fit components, and determine assembly order
  10. Super glue model together
  11. Clean up excess glue and glue squeeze out
  12. Clamp or hold to ensure proper seating of components
  13. Use super glue accelerator as needed
  14. Set aside to dry and move to the next model

Now, I don't expect everyone to be as OCD as I am with this. I do think that everyone should have a version of this process. It seems crazy to me to spend the money, but not take to time to make the models look good. For the "clip - glue - repeat" crowd, please know that I am silently (or not so silently) judging you for your hobby sins. :)
