Rumors of 7th Ed

WTF, Naftka? http://natfka.blogspot.com/2014/04/7th-edition-release-date.html

Anyone have any other skinny on this. No one else seems to be picking this up on their newsfeeds, and it seems like something that would be hard for GW to keep under wraps. It seems really implausible, but GW has done some crazy stupid things as of late, so there's no telling.

Anyone have any other info?

EDIT: The 6th Ed 40k rulebook is listed as "no longer available" on the GW website ...

This is from Kroothawk on Dakka:

Since the previous thread got locked 6 days ago, here a new start:
A source on faeit212 claims release date for 7th 40k edition is 31st May, preorder date 24th May.

i can confirm that 7th edition will be released on 24th of may. As off today all rulebooks are removed from the shop floors and known lossed.
(...)
I think the pre order date for the new rule book is the 24th. So sale on the week after. Most shops should have a poster with a commissar on it in there shops. And the date 24th war is coming or something in those lines.

In North America, the 6th edition rulebook is listed as "No longer available", while in UK you can't order it either (but without any text about availability), but all other language editions are available.

Here the previous thread:

Old rumours from there:

The big 40k rumor is: This summer GW will release 7th edition 40k , and 9th edition Fantasy has been shelved, for now.
(...)
All right before all of you blow us up step back and take a deep breath. This is from the source that have us pictures of the Space Marines and the Codex a month early. Also gave us pics of the Dark Elves which we described accurately a month early. Also gave us the info on the Sentinels of Terra. He also let us know that Nids were in January NOT December like so many other rumors sites predicted. So yeah he has been very accurate with the info he has given us. They way it was explained to us is that 7th Edition will be made to include the new Escalation and Stronghold rules. I would also not be surprised to see the Dataslates added to the main rule book.

Yes this is a rumor at this stage so take it with a grain of salt. But then again everything out source has said has come true. Only time will tell. Have a Merry Christmas with your families and don't let this put a knot in your undies.

40k 7th edition and the new starter kit Beachhead Stygia. It is small kit, with only five scouts, five blood angels, a commander with jump pack, five meganobs, 10 armoured ork shootas including a nob with two-handed axe and 10 gretchins. There are some destroyed columns, destroyed gothic stone walls and a three-piece stone bridge carried by gargoyles. It has a 96 page book, but only about the half is used for rules including three scenarios. Expert rules like all vehicle-related stuff are omitted completely. There are a handful of dice, a ruler, but no blast markers.

At the same time, there will be a new starter painting kit with 10 snapfit miniatures that will bring the tactical marines from the starter box to a full squad size and gives the ork player 5 additional boyz. It has a 48 page booklet with additional scenarios and hobby guides, brushes, basing sand and glue.

Reminds me of 3ed with all the trial rules half way through its life cycle.  In a lot of ways fitting for 6ed.  Both 3ed and 6ed were major overhauls that ended up being played not how the authors intended (in my opinion anyways) -- hence the need for updates.

Should note that while natfka is always a coin toss the guys at 40k radio have been pretty spot on since SM release and they were the ones to first report this awhile back.

Regardless, this is clearly imminent.

It will shake the meta again.  Never an entirely bad thing but I am very interested to see what happens with battle Crothers.  that is the REAL issue i think would really change things.

I already know they will feel a need to justify themselves in allowing Stonghold and Escalation type stuff.  I just hope the other less sure issues can be resolved.

I would LOVE for assaulting to be done from reserves again.  THAT would make a TON of difference.

Aw, don't worry.  It'll only be another $75 for what they used to do with FAQs.

Yeah 75.00 FAQ sheet with added rules from recent suppliments....I think this time ill try and get the digital version if it saves a few bucks.

Actually if they are just doing a rules clarification and consolidation edition and hearing now that WHFB 9th edition is shelved perhaps theres more credibility to the rumor of a combined ruleset for both 40k and fantasy coming in 2015.

Seems like some pretty over the top BS but I suppose its possible.

Put me in the I just got back here camp. Hoping its a minor tweaking that won't require a whole fat new book. I did just get an Ipad though.

Oh and I highly doubt they will include the escalation and stronghold assault rules in the main book. Why put it in one book when you can sell 3?

Guest Mr. Bigglesworth

I hope they include esc and sa. I would like one compendium.

I for one don't mind a .5 release when we have so many ambiguous rules as we do. I don't like bringing a giant stack of papers, and there rulebooks and then my codex and supplement, possible ally

Could they not just make a suppliment/advanced rule book so we could buy a 25/30 dollar book instead of another 80 dollar one? Games companies have routinely done this in the past where they also included an errata which revises a ton fo rules in the original version.
