  1. I'd love to see it. I agree that a small scale event is fine. Often when you wait for popularity to catch up you miss the boat. 6-8 players having a great time, taking photos, explaining the game to new prospects et cetera is a good way to build the community.
  2. I've no idea then. I deleted my whole inbox.
  3. His music was hit or miss for, blasphemy I know. But I always admired his forthright approach. He struck me as a very honest person.
  4. Had some trouble deleting PM's now fixed. I can answer questions.
  5. Well Gesso tends to have a very large and non-uniform grain so I'd take steps to get a proper consistency before using it on models. If you have a stainless steel food processing wand you can blend it with water to get a finer grain. Honestly I'd probably take a pass on gesso in favor of another liquid primer product. Maybe brush it on to fill the deep recesses and then hit it with some spray after to get a good strong bond.
  6. If its just primer I suggest Pinesol. Relatively non tumor causing and smells nice. It should cut through any non-enamel spray.
  7. I'm wondering if anyone experienced with mold making would want some commission work. I'd pay for either finished copies or good silicone molds or any other solution that people have discovered. The pieces would be fairly large but not overly complicated.
  8. There are quiet compressors just for airbrushes but they are pretty spendy. Unless you want to drop about four notes I'd get the air tank. I've had one for about five years, I had to replace the hose once because it got crimped but otherwise it's still going.
  9. It's actually a tremendous bargain at that price. Mainly because it includes an HDMI upscaler which often costs more alone. Also, it has limited translation capabilities for import games (it's almost completely region free) Every game that it plays will play faster and smoother than it ever did on its native hardware. It creates save states for games that didn't initially have them... which is huge if you remember playing really hard 8 and 16 bit platformers.
  10. I really recommend foam core for display boards. The stuff you would get for a high school science collage. If you make it three or four layers thick and seal it well it is very strong and weighs very little. You can cut it with virtually anything that is sharp. As long as you have a contiguous perimeter of 3 plus layers it will hold any amount of weight. Mine held an all metal dwarf infantry army without any flex whatsoever. Keeping it lightweight will make it last longer. A heavy display board is not only a bummer to haul around it will tend to chip and wear and far faster.
  11. I was going to share this but the image permissions won't let me. I'll definitely keep an eye peeled for the poor little guy.
  12. gotta get those munchkins to start painting and throwing dice!
  13. I prefer the jewel effect http://www.coolminiornot.com/articlesimg/art3cd1fc882d867.jpg
  14. Blacklining and straight white highlights are what sell a sharp blade. A lot of time the actual modeled blade isn't all that blade-shaped so it helps to paint in a sharper point than is actually there. A little piece of painters tape is especially helpful for getting that perfect white line down the center.
  15. Correct. Every playstation except the 4 will play ps1 discs assuming there are no physical defects. The first four editions of the ps3 will also play ps2 discs. Look for four usb ports on the front. The Xbox360 plays the majority of the more popular original xbox discs but you will need an internet connection the first time you play it. Once your machine has the DRM for that game it will continue to play offline until you reformat the drive. You can get a wiki list of compatible games. The first run of Wii systems will play gamecube games. Check for gamecube controller ports on the top. You will need a gamecube controller to play them. Other systems with backwards compatibility include Sega Genesis, Atari 7800, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. If you like Retro games I really recommend the Retron 5. It plays 9 different classic cartridges and upscales to HD.
  16. True. I can hook you up with all stuff. I wouldn't be able to trade for miniatures but I could trade for other video game stuff....
  17. PS1 games play on anything but a 4. PS2 games only played on the first four runs of PS3-- there were four usb ports on these models. Ok, back to the actual subject...
  18. I have a half-finished chaos team I was converting. My big guy was a classic juggernaut converted to a standing pose. I had to replace the torso section but was able to use the head, shoulders and feet. Might work for a BBBloodthirster.
  19. The only thing I would add is that different brushes have different shapes and its worth a little time considering ergonomics. I prefer the ones that have a larger circumference that tapers slightly. If you can you might just hold a few different ones in your hand to see what is most comfortable for you.
  20. I love that I can drop out for the better part of year and still find a 'GW is overpriced' thread when I return... whenever that is. Like rain on sunday morning. Never change you guys!
  21. So I haven't been around for a while due to some life happens but I still love the hobby and hope to dive back in sooner than later. I wanted to share a bit of what I've been up to model/paint wise and share an opportunity at the same time. These are progress shots of video game consoles that I've been decorating and selling at our store. The methods and materials are basically the same as those used for miniature wargaming. If anyone was interested I could use a few extra hands and can promise far better compensation than this sort of work usually pays. Either way, I hope ya'll are doing well and I hope to make some game nights real soon.
  22. It's pretty difficult to rescue fine detail from super glue abuse. Sometimes I slide a single edge razor blade between the base and the feet - be super careful if you try this! Otherwise it's a dunk in some pine sol followed by careful tooth brush work. Cost of doing business I guess.
  23. As usual I'm just the devil's-advocate and fluff monkey. So I'll cast a vote for skipping cannons. I think Khornate warriors have no patience for powder ratios and windage. I think the whole crew is tripping over itself to get the whacks in. I haven't played chaos much but I have played against your brets and I think this army is more fun with a limited tool kit and a commitment to controlling the field with charge arcs. You want to charge. You need to charge. Ranged firepower is like the evil voice in your ear that says other options are on the table.
  24. If you are downtown you NEED to grab a cappuccino at Compass Coffee. I would rank them in the top five of the whole metro area... There's also Julia Bakery over on St Johns. Their wild cherry scones and honey-marscapone sweet rolls have ruined many diets.
