  3. Here's my casual-play list for 40K at 1850 - a Skitarii Maniple with Cybernetic Cohort formation. The Tech Priest is my Warlord. I've two units of Vanguard painted, kept their Alphas with the standard radium carbine to keep them cheap. They really look solid as mid-field units, especially with their Assault 3 rifles. The Rangers I'm unsure on - figure they're best for holding the backfield and camping in terrain. Their standard galvanic rifles look okay but have been reading mostly meh' reviews on the transuranic arquebus'. The range is fantastic and I guess they could be useful to pick out special weapon / sergeants from the opposing backfield campers? May switch one of the squads for another small squad of Vanguard. The Infiltrators I like, not sure if I'll outflank or infiltrate with them, will have to depend on terrain. I do have the models for another five or maybe some Rust Stalkers. Onagers are awesome, both aesthetically and in firepower. They're my primary reach weapons with their Neutron Lasers. Was thinking of combining them into a single unit of two to get the increased invulnerable save, but that sacrifices their ability to shoot at two different targets. The Icarus Array is pure murder to fliers and skimmers, the latter of which is present in my meta so I'd like to keep it. Last is the Cohort Cybernetica, my midfield F You squad. Combined with the Tech Priest and the formation's ability to split fire I plan on raining down phospherous death on the meager enemies of the Imperium. I maxed out on the Phospher Blasters so that they're consistently effective with all their weapons at 36" range. The incendine combusters are tempting though as I like the idea of 4-8 torrent flame templates blazing out, not to mention the wall of death. Modelwise, I don't like the standard Edward Phospherhands look so I did a minor conversion of two barrels on one gun-hand (twin-linked) and kept the other one a standard hand. I prefer the look (like a Khador Destroyer) and who wouldn't want a beefy robot hand to choke a mofo' out? 4. I wanted to make some models to represent rerolls as actual items useful to a team during the game. Once this idea took hold, I realized I would have to go full steam with eight different concepts even though no team ever stockpiles that many. Since more than four is rare, I decided that each one should get progressively more complex and harder to get. Reroll #1 is a simple barrel of oranges for the players to recharge with, while rerolls #7 and #8 are arcane and ancient lore items that only the most affluent of teams could attain. After the eight were ready, I remembered the Kickoff table could give you two more: Cheering Fans and Brilliant Coaching. No reason to stop now, so I made models for those, too. All of the Rerolls on display: Reroll #1 - Oranges! The easiest reroll for a team to get, a bit of refreshment on the sideline. Reroll #2 - A stack of extra playbooks. Chock full of the wisdom of Nuffle. Reroll #3 - The equipment bench. Extra gear, cleats, and the tools to fix them. Reroll #4 - Balls, balls, balls. Plain and spiky, and extra AIRE to inflate or deflate as required. Reroll #5 - Energy drinks. Nothing like a bit of the old Bugman's XXXX to get the players amped up for the game. Reroll #6 - Doc Bonesaw's mobile arms surgical hacker (M*A*S*H). Broken leg? Smashed hand? The doctor is in! Reroll #7 - The mysterious imp's potion of magicalness. You gotta be pretty desperate to seek out this little bugger. But what else could a Blood Bowl team be with seven rerolls? Reroll #8 - The ancient trophy. Saved from the dusty basement and restored to glory with a fresh coat of... eww, giant skin! Mind the blood as you parade this through the sideline to inspire your team. Cheering Fans - Nothing gets the crowd riled up like these energetic beauties. And nothing gets the players fired up like a crowd going crazy and chanting your team song like maniacs. Brilliant Coaching - When you can't beat 'em, cheat 'em. This guy can spot the hidden tendencies and slightest injuries to exploit in those pesky opposing players. If you would like to see more angles on these models, there are additional pics in my gallery:

  5. Hey I'm new here so I wanted to introduce myself, I'm David Lopez, 25 years old, and very eager to expand my tabletop experience. I've played warhammer fantasy 8th/end times for about 2 years now, playing mostly lizards, undead, and skaven but I've also collected ogres, orcs, variety of chaos (beastmen, demons and WoC), and dwarves. I've also started learning 40k playing nids, mechanicum, and alittle dark angels (cause every 40k player has at least one space marine army). I've played one game of 9th and it wasn't a good showing for me but it seems to be what's in and anything is better then Siggy. I've dabbled in sub-warhammer games like Mordheim and Path to Glory and liked them very much but never got far cause my small group of friends that play all have conflicting schedules. So I'm into pretty much any game (money's tight so may need to proxy) but I plan on swinging by Tuesday to meet and check out some games.

  6. Kong: Skull Island. A fun but essentially mindless pulp adventure. It's like watching a Hollow-Earth roleplaying game scenario. If you can turn off your brain, 7/10. If not... a lot less than that.

  8. Good grief, it's been a while. Bit of a slack, eh boyz? So I have run mycourse of NCA for now, and instead of following into Red Veil Haqq, I took a left turn at Albequerque and diverted to Vanilla ALEPH. I had finished painting Scylla, Drakios, and an Asura Spitfire for use as Deva Functionaries for my NCA, in my NCA colors. In a moment of inspiration one night back in November, I thought to myself, "What if I paint more ALEPH in this paint scheme" and BOOM, here we are. Over the past few months, I have collected a bit of a haul: a 3-pack of Daikinis, the HMG Daikini, a Support Pack, a Posthumns box, and a few blisters. Acmon (the Dactyl character) has been gifted a bit of green-stuff magazines for his Pistols, making them into dual SMG's for the Proxy Mk. 5 FO. Hector has been pulling double duty as an himself or an Asura Hacker LT in the past few weeks between Thursdays at F&F and Sundays at WoW. Also a Myrm Officer for Chain of Command and smoke shenanigans (holy hell smoke is such an amazing tool, I kinda see why PanO doesn't get any now). My standard remotes will be filling in for Rebots and Probots (not a big fan of those sculpts anyway), and my Neoterra Bolts have been standing in as, in various settings, a Proxy Mk4 HRL (the ML), a Proxy Mk4 HMG (the Spit), and various Thorakites (Combi/LSG). Penesthelia classic, because Rule of Cool. Also have a LE Achilles hiding in the closet, for some dark, desperate day. (And here I'll take a moment to thank autosave on forum posts. Phew!) On the actual hobby side of things, there has definitely been some challenge. The Daikinis were tricky, 5 pins on 2 of them, and 6 on the third, but nothing prepared me for Penny. The bike itself wasn't too bad, some awkward mold lines, nothing too shabby. Getting Penny herself astride the bike, at the right angle, and solidlly enough together to be painted separately and then mounted, well, that took about 4 tries before I learned to pin one leg, let it cure completely, pin an arm, let it cure, then pin the other arm. She's now ready to paint, but I have definitely not been in the painting groove lately. With luck, Jay's challenge this week will cause the muse to descend. Maybe just a Daikini to start...

  9. Ok! I sprayed 20 Infinity Models today and base blacked another five last night. I have a Muyib mostly painted. The terrain pieces I brought to the club are sprayed and cured. Now, they need color. Finally, I played Joel at the club tonight. We played alien tech and went for kills as the secondary. I played this mission before vs. Pete a few weeks back. I know you went to go first and grab the tech as soon as possible. I won wip and raced up. My Farzan failed his WIP to open the tech, but my Muyib FO did. He was able to place a permanent eclipses template any where he wanted to. It went on Joel's perfectly placed Grunt Fire team with a view over the tech. My Mutts sacrificed themselves to kill Foxtrots, isolate an LT (he still had Captain COC), and put a wound on Scarface. My Muyib haris died, but pushed the tech button twice. My barid hit it third team and advanced to push Joel into retreat for his third turn.

  11. The link was very effective tonight. Couple that with my dice being hot and you had the makings for trouble. The Wu Ming moved up the center and was able to lock down the objective and hold it for the game. My backup link moved up in the last turn and added some more weight if fire into the center area. The Crane Imperial Agent with Spitfire is very potent especially when you roll 3 Crits on 13 plus an additional hit. Goodbye SuJian! That's payback for the last time we met. I did better this time but too slow. Need to get faster. That comes with more games. I also think I need to go back to vanilla YuJing. There are lots of models that I really like but cannot use in ISS.

  13. Ok Gents, After last night's game night, we went out to the Green Dragon. Jay's choice. Well, the Green Dragon is no more. It is now the Rogue Eastside: New Paint, New Branding, New Interior. All the funkiness is gone. The cow is gone. The board games are gone. The big tables are gone. The back wall of taps are gone. Happy hour is only Monday-Friday 4 PM to 6 PM. The are now lots of booths. It is well lit and looks clean and shiny. Beer is $6.50 unless you are like me and have a Rogue Citizen card. There is still 55 beers on tap, but now only 19 are not Rogue Beers. The menu is on a metal sheet and similar to the one before. Jay ordered the cheese curds with jalapeno jelly and it is his new favorite. The chicken wings are good, but not Fire on the Mountain good. The quonset hut will be going. The fire marshal doe not like it, so it will be torn down for more patio space. For the Good of the Order,, RD

  14. Oh, for sure, but staying up until 6 AM getting drunk off my ass with my future brother-in-law after spending the last two days with them may have been a poor choice. At the very lease, my body informed me that it was not a good decision... every time I pull some stunt like this, my body reminds me that I am, indeed, getting too old for this [big bad swear word]. Also, thanks for the compliments on the avatar. My last name is Rockwell, and people have been calling me Rock since I was in high school, so in the context of a military-ish wargame, it's always made sense to make that reference.

  15. I liked it. The food I got was great. They had a good stout on nitro which I'm always a sucker for. The new interior was clean and welcoming and I wasn't afraid to sit in the chairs.

  16. Yes with their traditional non inquisition allies. Sisters, grey knights, and death watch. Legion of the damned is in there with some other auxiliaries. Really killer codex actually, not as deep as the full codexes for the most part but really good fun options.

  19. You get bonus points for mentioning the Hollow Earth RPG :) Logan...dark and gritty. Excellent movie, it is too bad they didn't go this more serious route with Wolverine from the beginning. Arrival (viewing #2). So, took my wife to this last night as she hadn't seen it. This movie improves with a second viewing...and it was awesome the first time around. Definitely see it a second time if you haven't yet (and obviously liked it the first time).

  21. Had a good crowd playing at Guardian Games on Friday night, got a great game in against 10 Thunders. Looking to go to The Portland Game store on Tuesday for another. Learned a lot in the match. I have never played against Shenlong before (havent played against most masters). I assumed he was a Melee powerhouse so I certainly tried to keep my distance. He was able to use Hans (outcast Merc) and Yin to completely nullify Teddy around one of the stashes leaving my weaker minions to have to deal with Shenlong and Sensi Yu. Very well played. I learned the value of initiative and cheating defenses to prevent early turn triggers that can take your enforcers out of the game. You cant cheat your fate later if you cant activate the way you want to, so you have to burn those good cards early on to nullify two very key activations from Hans and Yin. With DF being low on teddy it was sometimes not even cheatable, again, well played on my opponents part. Luckily my summoned dudes countered my loss of teddy and still kept me somewhat in the game. I am really enjoying the strategy and decisions this game forces you to make. I havent had this much fun with a game in years. The Dreamer is certainly a glass "summoning" cannon and I find myself completely overwhelmed when activating him. With a breadth of options on most Master and 3 AP to spend it can be a quagmire to decide which way to go about your plan. I just need more time with the game, a better understanding of what other models are trying to do. With so much variation, I'll be at it for a while. I have never painted more in my life either... 25 models in like a month.... Crazy. Check this game out if you havent or if you are looking for a change of pace on the tabletop, you wont be disappointed.

  22. My main gripe is that a card can determine the outcome of a game. If all the cards were equal & had less impact on determining a winner this would be a non-issue.

  23. Kinda like the Daikini, the Devabot is probably my least favorite model in the range for assembly+painting. None of the excellent keying newer models have, poorly fitting flat joints, and a pretty uninspired design. Makes me feel like I'm messing around with old GW. Bleh.

  24. Cool list! I've played with the Wu Ming link a bit and one of my regular opponents runs it all the time so I've had a lot of time to consider what I think about it. I've found that, while the pain train is pretty great feeling while using it offensively, it doesn't do enough to actually win the game. It's so many points that it needs to be unicorn levels of effective per order where it's extending its threat, exercising its firepower, and locking down objectives all at the same time. On the plus side, it definitely made me appreciate the Crane+CG link as it can perform a similar job as the Wu Ming link on the field while also being much more cost effective. Probably my favorite way to run CG now, actually.

  26. I'm coming in to meet people. I'm new to the warhamsters game so just meet and observe for me this week but I'll take someone on next week. I'll be the guy with a big red beard and a mandalorian beanie wandering around. What's a good time meet the most people?

My 40k armies are Space Wolves and Chaos Daemons, so if you want to set up any games for Tuesdays check out the Game Night forum and look for the Bellingham Game Night post. I'll be around Tuesday night if you're looking for a game. -Brendan

  28. Week 2: We had another week with a full games room. It was great to see returning faces. We played 20 x 20 mission 11, Alien Artifact Investigation, with a secondary mission of 1 - Destroy the enemy. That mission had some board altering shenanigans that were fun and sometimes tough to deal with. Eric - 15 Pete - 8 Jeff - 7 Evan - 7 Darron - 7 Justin - 7 Ed - 6 Ian - 3 Joel - 2 Josh - 2 I only had one new painted model brought this week. Great work Ed. I want a see a model from everybody next week. It's just one. I know you guys can do it. Remember OFCC will be here faster than you expect so let's paint some models! See you all next week.

  36. Speaking of grimness here are some tasty offerings from old grandpappy Satan. Marduk really makes me want to play my Flames of War Germans. Watain captures the early/mid 90s metal vibe and smacks you in the face with it. Carach Angren as always brings the moody brutality with tragic lyrics.
