  1. Camaraderie and fun, that's why I'm here. :D

  2. Maybe we could get a sticky post where we can posts our lists. Then we can edit them as we upgrade and recruit.

  3. Totally agree! :) I'm not a rules lawyer, just providing perspective as it was poised to me.

  4. This is Ordo people. Everything is done in the spirit of camaraderie and fun, including interpretations of WYSIWYG. Don't get hung up.

  6. So... basically "WYSIWYG is the rule, but we'll allow some wiggle room. Just don't be a d**k about not putting the effort in on your and don't be a d**k about your opponent's models." But that's kinda wordy for a bullet-point on the rules' sheet.

  7. But creative conversions and modeling is also a big part of Necromunda-scale gaming. If someone wants to bust out their vintage Squats and say they "count as" Space Marine Scouts, I say we should encourage that.

  8. That is fine. Like I said, I will comply with the requirement. I am just a fan. Nor will I likely become a fan in the future.

  9. I think a few other things should be added to the "knives and grenades" exemption from WYSIWYG: clip harnesses, optics, pistols (when not a primary weapon), and so forth. The most important things to have WYSIWYG are weapons and armor. I should be able to tell from tabletop distance that This Guy has carapace armor, a laspistol, and a chainsword, That Guy has power armor and a boltgun, The Other Guy has a sniper rifle and camouflage gear. I really don't want to be the "rivet counter" that inspects the details on your toy solder's belt to determine if he has a clip harness or not... "Counts As" models should also be encouraged,as Surgalessllama mentions. As long as the counts as theme is consistently applied and the weapons/armor are correct.

  10. I understand the your point. However, I think the point being raised was that sometimes someone has a faction that can play, but the models in their collection are not appropriately equipped. And rather than going out and purchasing additional models, someone might like to play with the models that they already own. And while there is some idea that a tricky player could pretend to have equipment for their unit model that they don't have the points for, this is defeated by simply referring to the Kill Team roster. Because, just speaking for myself of course, if I didn't already have the models in my collection, or were required to buy more models in order to be WYSIWYG... I wouldn't play. The hobby is already expensive enough as it is, I don't see the need to arbitrarily make it more expensive in order to play the game at a smaller scale. That just seems silly to me. However, I am not running the event and so it is not my decision. And I do look forward to participating. :D

  11. Or you replace the model with one correctly equipped. Teams can be as small as 3 dudes. This is not an onerous requirement. It promotes painting and hobbying over the course of the entire campaign, and prevents people from saying late in the campaign "that tyranid warrior actually has a venom cannon."

  12. Sing - 4/10 - Everything worth watching you saw in the trailers, except the final 5 minute finally. You can youtube that and not have to waste 1.5 hours of your life. Unless you have kids, then it's a cool animal movie and there is a decent sound track to it.

  13. King Arthur: Clive Owen, Keira Knightly, etc....... I found myself heckling the movie with my daughter. It is not that bad, but some parts make no sense, 6/10.

  14. So I picked up 40 Marauders and a unit of Blightkings. The blightkings are such cool models and I wanted to try some wetblending so I started painting them today. I think they are coming out ok. After looking at the pictures, I do need to get a better camera.

  21. I found the 2006 Salute model, Arthur & Mordred, on eBay. Below is a photo of the original green. The Mordred model is pretty cool, but of the two it's the Arthur model that really shines. I like this model so much that I'm torn between fielding an all-foot warband (if a Briton warlord is not mounted, then no mounted HG), and a the mix of infantry and cavalry that I'm using now. Of course, I can do both, but I can take only one of them to the Grand Melee. Perhaps I'll use one for the team tournament and a different one for the singles. Below is a pic of the WIP foot-Mordred and his Companions. If I go all-foot, I still want Mordred will be my Warlord, so took the head from the MM (FS) Mordred model, hollowed out the inside, and placed it on the base. I'll probably add some battle damage to the helm so it looks like Mordred took one to the melon and tossed off his damage helm. The model is sculpted so that it's looking down at the kneeling Mordred, so to raise up his eye line a bit, I put a stone under his right foot. The Companion on the left is (ironically) West Wind Productions' Mordred. There can be only one Mordred, so I replaced the Mordred helm with a different WWP head. Since taking this photo I've replaced the head with one that I like better. The Companioon on the right is Footsore Miniatures' Vortigen. The half drawn sword and the face are what drew me to this model.

  24. Here's my (fairly minor) concern, if you can play up to two games per play period and their are six play periods, it's quite possible someone might hit the fifteen cache victory condition halfway or two-thirds of the way through. (Most missions grant the winner d3 caches.) What do we do if that happens? Just keep playing and see who comes in second, third, and so forth? End the campaign?

  26. Well that sucks. I was looking forward to keep going with that. I'll be there for 40k with you Corey around 6 tonight and we can have some fun. Maybe I'll try Saga with Shaun next week to mix things up.

  29. I can take point, my name is steven benz, from the facebook post started. Let me go ahead and look at the rules and see about getting it started. I was thinking a grow league/campaign where the points you earn in your weekly/biweekly battle is spent on buying more troops or gear. Kind of like mordheim. So my next questions 1)how soon would you like to start? 2) Campaign or just organized play?

  30. I really appreciate the positive attitude Sugarlessllama is displaying about a rule they aren't fond of. I understand why WYSIWYG can seem daunting, but I think the community is pretty cool about most stuff. I know if you were in a pickle and couldn't make a change I would be okay with it for one game, so long as you kept reminding me.

  32. Having played Necromunda, WYSWYG is huge in the culture. Being that SW:A is a necromunda spin off it makes sense to follow the culture requirement. That said, a Necron player can literally make a team with 1 box of immortals. Sure some races may require more to get the right weapons, but that's the key here. The focus is such a small model commitment, players can easily get bits (ebay), magnets, or additional models. The main requirement is because this is expected of all necromunda players previously. That said, many wargear items don't require WYSWYG outside of primary weapons (ammo reloads, etc). A lot of wargear falls under the 'stored in their pockets, etc'. Oh and i'm a HUGE fan of hostlered pistols, that was a nice thing last time I played necromunda.

  38. American Poltergeist (2015): Doesn't have the gore to work as a slasher flick, doesn't have the subtlety to work as a more psychological horror flick. Unfortunate, because there was some potential in the core idea. Also, that was a ghost, not a poltergeist. The terms are not interchangeable ;)

  39. A Mercenary is simply an individual player that is not team associated, and not a substitute player for an existing team. I am happy to change the term used if you can think of something that sounds cooler :)

  45. Welcome to the 2017 OFCC 40K Team Event Players Guide! This post will outline everything you need to know to play in this year's 40K Team event. This is a 2 day, 5 round event on July 29th and July 30th. Although this is a team event, we will allow players who are not affiliated with a team to play as Mercenaries. As you read through this guide, you will notice that this event is not referred to as a tournament. OFCC is about focusing on the experience and not the outcome. There is nothing wrong with wanting to perform well and to celebrate victory, but if that is your sole motivator for playing at OFCC then you may be disappointed. List Building Restrictions: OFCC is about celebrating our hobby, demonstrating good sportsmanship, and playing fun games. Players are encouraged to bring armies that reinforce those values. This event is designed to encourage and reward players who embrace the experience. The army size must be no more than 2,000 points It can include any 40K units from any number of 40K approved Games Workshop or Forgeworld sources Age of Darkness (30K) rules and armies will not be allowed If there is a 30K unit with 40K rules, it can be used with the corresponding 40K rules Team Requirements: A team must contain 4 players One team member must be designated as the Captain Any player not affiliated with a team will be a Mercenary Event Specific Rules: This event will use the Games Workshop 7th Edition 40K rules and the Games Workshop official FAQ documents The 7th edition rules will be used as written with one exception: Untrusted Alliances - Battle Brothers will not be used, so the best interaction between factions in your army will be Allies of Convenience Different Space Marine Chapters are different factions Skitarii and Cult Mechanicus are one faction Inquisitors are exempt from this restriction and follow the normal Battle Brother rules What to Bring: Your painted and based army (see Painting and Basing Requirements) Dice, tape measure, templates A printed copy of your army list A deck of Tactical Objective Cards A good attitude and desire to have fun Painting and Basing Requirements: All models within OFCC armies must be fully painted and based Painting must include 3+ colors Effort must be made to transform or replace the bare plastic base Models that fail to meet the event minimum cannot be used during the event Models, Counts As and WYSIWYG: Games Workshop models are not required for this event Alternate models should reflect the same scale as the Games Workshop equivalent Weapon upgrades and certain model specific wargear should be represented on the equipped model It is impossible to outline all the examples, so here is a good rule to follow If a unit would be impacted by the removal of something equipped to a specific model (banner, special weapon, etc.) then it must be represented Proxies are not allowed in the 40K Team Event A proxy is a placeholder when you don't have an appropriate model to use Counts As armies are allowed during the 40K event with the following guidelines: Effort must be made to represent the model/unit in question Representation must be consistent across the army It is the responsibility of the player who bring a Counts As army to inform their opponent early and often about what is being represented Any specific questions or additional guidance should be directed to the 40K Head of Gaming (evil_bryan) List Rating and Matches: Every list will be rated against each other to determine which lists are more powerful than others List power levels will determine the games you will play Similar power levels will be matched against each other Winning will increase your power level, losing will decrease it Matches will be organized on a player versus player basis, not team versus team Awards: The Team Based Awards available this year will be: Best Painted Best Spirit Marshall Johnson Award (Best Sportsman) Best Overall There will also be Individual Awards available exclusively for Mercenaries: Best Painted Best Sportsman A note about Battle Scores and performance: Although we will not be awarding a Best General, we will be tracking battle scores and using performance to match players during the weekend Battle scores will be used to break ties in all award catagories Mission Types: Each mission will be a variant of the Maelstrom of War missions and require a deck of Tactical Objective Cards. We will be using a similar deck building and scoring mechanic as the Ordo Annihilation events. Each player must assemble a deck of 28 tactical objective cards Choose 28 of the 36 available cards for your deck Do not choose cards that are impossible for your army to score During the game, you can only automatically discard and redraw cards that are impossible to score based on your opponents army (i.e. no Fast Attack units) and NOT your army You can only use a single source for your deck (either the standard deck or ANY army specific deck, it does not need to match the army you are playing) If you do not have a Games Workshop printed deck (or one does not exist), you can custom build one for the event Scoring will occur every game turn and you will compare earned points. If you earned more points that turn: +2 If you earned equal points that turn: +1 If you earned less point that turn: +0 The game end when one (or both) players reach 7 points or when the last turn is completed. Event Scoring by Category: Each team will have the ability to earn points in each scoring category (Paint, Spirit, Sports) before the event AND during the event. The total points scored will determine team's position in each category and contribute to calculating the scores for Best Overall. Pre-Event Scoring: Each player/army that achieves one of the below items will score 1 point per completion. If all players on a team achieve the same item they will receive a bonus point. Painting: Photo Spread - Team post on the Ordo Forums with pictures of each army Early Screening - Display your army Friday evening for paint judging Spirit: Advanced Planning - List submitted for review before 6/1/2017 All In - Ticket purchased before 6/1/2017 Sportsmanship: Going Old School - Single Combined Arms Detachment from a single source with no flyers, super heavies, or gargantuan creatures No surprises - Team post on the Ordo Forums with information about your players and their army lists List Submissions: All army lists should be emailed to OFCC2017@gmail.com Army lists should include all units, wargear, corresponding points cost, and source(s) Make sure to identify yourself and your team within the email Captain's Responsibilities: Team Captains are the true heroes of OFCC, and greatly contribute to what makes this event a success. Team Captains will be asked to: Review the team's army lists and have them submitted on time Remind their team to purchase their event tickets Ensure the team meets OFCC painting and basing minimums Educate new players about the spirit of OFCC Questions: For any questions, please feel free to reach out to me in the following ways: Send a PM through the forums Reach out via Facebook Send an email to OFCC2017@gmail.com Stop by in person at WOW on a Tuesday night We look forward to seeing you in July!
