  1. From tragedy comes triumph! Sent the first 3d printer back and got something else. First one was too finicky and hobbyish for my tastes. But the one they sent me was missing the glass print bed and I needed it to get this pistol together for The Storm! So I went and got a pane of glass and cut it roughly to size and had to tape it down. Its janky, but it seems to be working and as of this morning has 3 hours left to print the final piece I need. What a a pain! I should have it painted and assembled as of tonight!

  4. Hey everyone. With OFCC fast aprouching I needed a new warboss on chariot for my Greenskins army and since basic chariots are boring I went with a bear mount. Behold Skargob Iron Hornz and his mount Grum Grum, leader of the hoardz of crag skull mountain. Hopefully I can start painting him soon.

  5. Holy swear word, Batman. I really want to play this game. That no-restrictions on charging from Deep Strike, but you need to be 9" away thing is a little piece of genius. It also meshes nicely with the fact that units can disengage from combat. The assault armies can still strike from the skies with a precision hammer-blow, but they might not make it in, and even if they do they're not locked in the "safety" of close combat. The enemy can just walk away and gun them down with other units. Everyone gets cake? EVERYONE gets to eat it??!?!?! Absurd!

  6. I'd probably give a genuine chuckle perhaps a guffaw if they applied it to any other joke in the same family. -A Tau fire warrior cadet complimenting his friend's increasing close combat prowess. -An eldar engineer yelling at one of his mechanics about how simple the technology is, incredulous he could mess it up. -An imperial xenobiologist positing that tyrannids should be left alone because they keep the other aliens in check. There are ironic jokes to be made, but they looooooove lasguns (why don't they marry them?). It's about as tedious as reading another Munkie post complaining about their lasgun jokes

  7. To go along with my Chaos Warriors, I'm building a matching table. I picked up an Arctic FATMAT and have started building terrain to match. In addition to the usual slate rock chips and such I've added element from Secret Weapon bases to give the pieces and ruined temple vibe. Here's my concept piece: I'm not too happy with it. I had originally put patches of baking soda snow on along with the frost, but it really looked like crap. Rather than scrap the piece I flocked over the patches and added more snow. It's better but not what I want overall. Here's the second piece: Foundation work is done. I hotglued down the large slate chips and the bases, painted on wood glue and added the smaller chips and the sand. After letting it cure overnight a painted watered down glue over those same parts to seal it all in. I'll paint it up next, getting the priming, airbrushing and drybrushing done before adding the flocking.

  8. I got paint on. Primed black with some simple flat black spray paint, I airbrushed white (very thinly) to give broad highlights, then spot shot green on specific areas like the ruins and broad flat areas to add some interest. I then airbrushed some brown in the shadows. I over saturated colors a bit as I'll lose quite some when I apply the snow. I'll drybrush next then apply a wash.

  9. I suspect that if the game is more balanced we'll see more armies and more variety in them. Would love to see assault marine heavy forces, and predator only space marine forces.

  15. In this case, I'm pretty sure it was specifically a response to half the 40K internets flipping out over the whole "A lasgun can hurt a Land Raider in 8th" thing, which is why I thought it worth getting dropped into this thread.

  16. I just found out about this. It's a collaboration between Corvus Belli and Beasts of War similar to their Operation: Flamestrike campaign. All that I know is that its an international infinity campaign with a bit of an evolving narrative theme. It takes place on space stations and ships near a jump gate and will be map based. Seems kind of like the old eye of terror and storm of chaos campaigns from GW. Anyone interested in this? The pdf is supposed to be available on the 29th but I'm not sure of the official start date. Any new players or people that don't have models but are interested I can lend out my limited selection of models for secondary factions. I have a decent amount of Tohaa, Hassassins and Combined Army (minus the Morats since I will be using them)

  17. Im wondering now if it goes to a set 5 rounds for the matched play.. The the existing variable turns could be interesting as well. The thing is,with the game being more like AoS now,its going to be all about the Alpha strike.Either administering one or building a list to take one and hold out for the grind down. The best thing about this system,I think is that Horde armies can really take punishment and can usually take on even the nastiest of alpha strikes, yet they could have issues with a more mixed style list,,that the alpha builds usually destroy.Plus low model count elite armies can be nasty but can really struggle vs hordes. Another thing im hoping for is a solid mix of competative scenarios,,the 6 matched play ones in the GH go a long ways toward overall game balance, making it very difficult to build an all comers list that can do well in all 6 scenarios. It would be nice too if 40k used the tactical objective system ,,but Its not looking good for that making the transition right now.

  33. Viral: Pretty much a by-the-numbers biological (as opposed to supernatural) zombie flick, but they use the formula well. The few stupid decisions made are pretty understandable, and there's some surprisingly good characterization and acting. Honestly, the biggest problem I have with the movie is that it's called "viral", but the infectious agent is a parasitic worm. I guess maybe they were trying to use that to refer to the YouTube videos that some of the characters are getting information from or something, maybe? The Beast of Xmoor: Seemed like there might be some interesting stuff in there, and there were a few bits that I did particularly like, but for a lot of it, the screen is so dark that I literally couldn't see a thing, and from what I was hearing, some of those parts sounded like the visuals were pretty important.

  39. I was not able to watch much of the Warhammer TV broadcast today about AoS Skirmish. But from the pieces of information I did get it sounds about exactly what I wanted. They have a full campaign structure with 6 missions. Plus they have rules for Skirmish being run at a matched play multi-round event with escalating points. I can't wait to pick up this low cost book and test it out with my son, battles are only supposed to last around an hour. I have noticed from playing standard AoS at lower point values the game does not play that well with quite a few of the missions from the GH1. This will be a great way to play the full game with a ton less models and a ton less time. I will most likely try and run some local events with this new rule set, can't wait!

  41. Is anyone else tired of the "lasgun: king of the battlefield" gag? We get it, it's the worst mainline gun in the game, and the Imperium loves to use propaganda. Hilarious. There is literally an entire book based on this joke (the guardsman's field manual or whatever). "Hey 40k enthusiasts! Thanks for staying with us while we preview the new edition every day. Boy have we got a doosy for you today! You know that joke we've been publishing for 15 years? While many things are changing about the new edition, you'll be thrilled to hear that this joke isn't among them! That's right folks, we're still committed to speaking ironically about lasguns!" Lasguns: reaching for "git er done" levels of hilarity.

  42. Greetings soldier, Today we take another look at your trusty lasgun. Some of you may have heard tell of the report of brave Trooper Perkins, whose lone, well-aimed lasgun shot took down a rampaging enemy Helbrute.* Yes, it is of course completely possible to take down any foe with the mighty lasgun: king of weapons. The lasgun is a feared and deadly firearm, and the envy of non-Imperial infantry across the galaxy. While not strictly advisable to use in an anti-armour role, in the likely event that the disciplined fire of your platoon has already accounted for all enemy infantry forces within range, you will be authorised to open fire on enemy vehicle assets. In this example, we consider the Ork Stompa – as detestable a conglomeration of heretical alien technology as you are ever likely to face. Consider its weak points – visible missiles, open ammunition caches, poorly armoured fire ports – all easy targets for a disciplined marksman to exploit. Calmly hold your ground, choose your target, and cripple the brute with a well-placed shot. Repeat this process until the foe is no longer a threat.** Note that, while a single lasgun is, of course, capable of taking down such a brute, it is still not advisable to take one on alone. We would recommend you secure some support before attempting to face a foe of this class.*** There you have it, Guardsmen. We hope we have redoubled your faith in your blessed lasgun. Thought for the day: ‘Do not ask how you may give your life for the Emperor. Ask instead how you may give your death.’ * Actual post-battle analysis now reveals the likely cause of the Helbrute’s death was the volley of meltagun shots from the Catachan Veteran Squad concealed nearby, and in fact, Perkins not only missed his one shot, he was immolated in the ensuing explosion as the Helbrute’s reactor blew. Still, what a hero. ** Note: The estimated number of lasgun shots required to destroy the example enemy war machine is several orders of magnitude higher than the number of charges supplied in a single lasgun. Additional ammunition, and/or lasguns, may be required. *** Such as a battalion of several thousand Guardsmen, some heavy weapons support, an artillery barrage and an orbital bombardment.
