  7. For those that do not know about the Raptor chapter. "Stop blindly obeying the words of the book and look at the situation. You have completed your training, but you must now learn to apply it. Regurgitation is not the answer, simple analysis and thought must be used to solve the problem!" - Captain Maodes Karib, Raptors 5th Company The Raptors are a Loyalist Second Founding Successor Space Marine Chapter of the Raven Guard. They have been heavily involved in many of the most recent campaigns of the Imperium of Man, including the Badab War, the Third War for Armageddon and the Taros Campaign. The Raptors were originally and mistakenly recorded in Imperial records as a Chapter called the Raptor Legion with a very different colour scheme; this mistake has now been rectified. As a Chapter, the Raptors have been nearly rendered extinct multiple times, but have learned to adapt to changing circumstances so well that they have flourished where other Chapters would simply have had their names added to the ranks of the fallen. The Raptors' Chapter culture is one that is very wary of the idea of martial glory or honour, and prefers instead to emphasise pragmatism, adaptability and completion of the mission over all other concerns. The Raptors, having been reduced to so few Battle-Brothers so often in their history, have no illusions about what war truly is. They understand that war is suffering and death. It is a brutal business that they specialise in, but they have no desire to wallow in its misery beyond what is required to carry out the Emperor's will. Like their genetic forebears, the Raptors adhere to the broad organisational patterns and provisions laid down in the Codex Astartes, but as a Chapter, they see the Codex as a highly effective and proven set of strategic and operational guidelines rather than inviolable dogma to be obeyed without question. The Raptors maintain a high degree of flexibility in their deployments and structures, and in battle favour hit-and-run tactics over all else. Flexibility and willingness to adapt to their situation represents the core of the Raptors' combat doctrine. As they prepare to engage their opponents, these Space Marines are always careful to identify all of their assets and utilisethem to the fullest means possible. These often include assets that are not identified within the constraints of the Codex Astartes. Even when operating well within the strictures of that tome, these Battle-Brothers may choose to take measures that others might consider dishonourable. For members of the Raptors Chapter, the only important standard is success. Honour and glory are noble notions, but a clear victory is worth far more than any amount of either. Most of the distinctive combat tactics that the Raptors employ are tied into this notion. Many Space Marine Chapters exhibit a clear disdain for the use of concealment, secrecy, espionage, and counter-intelligence. The Raptors know, however, that it provides a limited number of countermeasures to overcome those who would use such deception against members of the Adeptus Astartes. However, the Raptors Chapter enthusiastically and consistently applies these techniques throughout its battles. Deceiving their opponents as to the timing, nature, and objectives of an attack can often grant the Space Marines a significant tactical advantage. Similarly, by expertly scouting a region prior to launching an attack, the Raptors are often able to insert their forces without their opponents realising the number or nature of the opposing forces. However, such insertions are entirely dependent upon the reliability and accuracy of their initial reconnaissance work. This requires extensive dependence upon their Scout Marine units, which exceeds the level characteristic of many other Space Marine Chapters. When engaged in scouting missions, the Chapter's Battle-Brothers typically focus on both gathering intelligence and on countering the opposition's efforts. Just as they work to penetrate the fog of war, they may also deliver false -- but credible -- information. Consequently, at the same time as the Space Marines penetrate directly to the most vulnerable points of their opponent's strategy, those opponents are unable to locate the heart of the Raptors' forces. This stratagem has often enabled the Raptors to effectively engage opponents that enjoy an even greater numerical advantage than is typical for Imperial Space Marine forces. Throughout the Chapter, blind obedience is strongly discouraged. All of these Space Marines are expected to act upon their own initiative at the appropriate times. However, such actions must fit within the context of the larger battle scheme. Battle-Brothers consider unorthodox tactics during their preparation for any conflict. These include unusual deployment manoeuvres and infiltration. At times, they have gone so far as to assemble ad hoc units specifically appropriate for resolving a particular tactical problem. Other Chapters can find these attitudes at odds with a strong devotion to the Emperor and the righteous plight of Mankind, though the Raptors see the two as intertwined, and their Chapter has always done its duty and remains unquestionably loyal to the Imperium. For a Raptors Battle-Brother facing death is only a matter of time, and they carry the knowledge with them every day, alongside their duty to their brothers and their oath to the Emperor.

  17. Yup. I believe ETC went with 4500 this year, so that's what the T9A forum is playing. 5000 is also an acceptable size. It's basically 2250 vs 2500 in 8th points.

Here it is: http://www.bellinghamherald.com/news/business/article150678067.html Apparently, the internet says that the owner of NYP was a jerk, and this is not the first time he's racked up lots of business debt and declared bankruptcy (last time was to the tune of millions). Seems like expanding to Seattle was the death blow here. At least, that's what they say. The real reason? They should have never changed the fries.

  22. Fluff Piece New Warhammer 40,000: The Indomitus Crusade & the Dark Imperium Yesterday, we saw a new type of Space Marine – a Primaris Space Marine – clad in Mk X armour and wielding a deadly bolt rifle. Developed on orders from the Primarch Roboute Guilliman 100 centuries past, Primaris Space Marines have been diligently developed and perfected by the priesthood of Mars during the long intervening millennia. But to what purpose? Perhaps an optimist, but never a fool, Guilliman learned from the Horus Heresy, and he foresaw that the forces of Chaos would never relent in their aim to bring the Imperium low. He anticipated that devastating times would once again engulf the galaxy and knew that warriors resilient enough to stand against them would be needed as never before. That time has surely come. As the Imperium literally comes apart, and the forces of Chaos run rampant across the galaxy, Guilliman launches his Indomitus Crusade. We’ve heard that name before, but what does it mean? The new Warhammer 40,000 has this to say on it: “Roboute Guilliman gathered his new armada. Along with elements of the Adeptus Custodes, a small contingent of the Silent Sisterhood, and a vast war host of Primaris Space Marines from many newly founded Chapters, the Primarch set a winding course. Strike forces from over a dozen pre-existing Chapters of Space Marines, led by the Imperial Fists, joined the fleet. Thus began many new legends as Guilliman travelled to aid beleaguered planets, breaking sieges and sweeping away invaders to bring hope back to the desperate defenders. It was not long before word began to spread, as all those planets that could receive astropathic messages hailed the return of a hero out of myth. Once more, one of the demigods of the past fought for the Imperium of Mankind.” So, that sounds pretty promising for the Imperium. Well, maybe. The scale of the task is monumental. Following the emergence of the Cicatrix Maledictum, no world in the Imperium has been untouched by war, and there are many thousands of planets that cry out for aid and reinforcement. And that’s on the Terran side of the Great Rift! Travel through the Cicatrix Maledictum is all but impossible, but sporadic contact has been made, through temporary warp-routes, to a few of the best-defended worlds on the other side – and things are not looking good. On the far side of the galaxy-spanning warp storm, things have quite literally gone to hell. There, the light of the Astronomicon is obscured behind a psychic maelstrom of nightmares and the entire region has been dubbed ‘Imperium Nihilus’, or the Dark Imperium. Amongst the besieged Imperial worlds in this Dark Imperium are many Space Marine Chapter Planets, including Baal, home of the Blood Angels. Things were already looking pretty grim for the sons of Sanguinius, with a hive fleet closing in on them, and now it looks even bleaker. Cut off from the light of Terra, the Angels and their Successors stand against the might of Hive Fleet Leviathan, hoping they can withstand the storm. Yipes, the Blood Angels sound like they are in trouble. This isn’t the first time they have triumphed against impossible odds though, can they make it out alive? We’ll have to see. We’ll be back tomorrow with more news on rules in the new Warhammer 40,000, as we take a look at teleporting and reserves.

  23. I felt each episode was maybe 15 minutes too long and it could have had a couple epispdes cut out. Luke's acting was a bit of a downer first few episodes as I felt he should have been stronger having just done Jessica Jones. It's not like the rest of the cast who are just being introduced to their characters.

  24. Luke Cage S01 (yeah, I'm slow). This is a tough one. The quality of the show was top notch. The characters were believable (for a comic book movie), acting was fine, and the storyline was interesting. I really liked the portrayal of Harlem as, essentially, a character itself. Buuuuuuut, I found the pacing absolutely glacial for much of the show. There were long runs where I'd pop open a fresh browser tab and just listen to the show in the background while I surfed. Over a broadcast season, maybe it'd be better but as a binge-watch it felt like 8 - 10 episodes of content stretched out to 13.

  29. I cant really tell either...I hear the legs and arms are supposed to be a bit longer but thats about it for size difference. Which mildly sucks for my Iron Hands as I have an upgrade kit I was holding for these guys,,but it looks like they are too attatched to their new flesh to have anything to do with those.

  30. That is how they described them so far, as being like the Legion Tactical Squads. The heads and shoulder pads are the same size as the current ones. Everything else is bigger.
    1 point
  31. The heads are the same size. Basically they're true scale marines meaning they don't use as exaggerated body proportions that current marines use. They're very obviously larger if you compare the pictures of them next to tanks if you need a visual aid.

  33. My bad, it did have a third turn, but it was such a crushing victory for the Imperials that we ended up calling it after that. We had a good time while playing it all though and I'd definitely run another campaign someday :)

  41. This sounds interesting. I have an Ork army. I have not played much in the last few years due to playing only tournament type players, not fun with a very sub par army. I hve started a Goff army design. My boys are nobs (assault on black reach mostly) my gretchen are boys. For nobs I use war bosses. I started to build a custom war boss, but lost interest after not having fun, but still have all the bits stored together. Goffs are the biggest toughest and meanest of orks and are properly larger sized.

  46. It is actually harder rather then easier to set up a challenge round, and it would have been extremely complicated with the other changes being rolled out this year. Since we have open gaming on Friday and Saturday night, you will certainly have time to arrange a game if you'd like. :)
